MH said he'd trained. But I'd prefer Onouha at RB anyway. Hill and Gabbi (if fit) as CB's, Anton on the Bench.
That's a clear alternative, but I thought Young was losing players getting into the box behind before his injury, and that cost us goals. I' m very unconvinced by Ferdinand.
I think Ferdinand has to play. Neither Gabbidon nor Hill have that sort of pace or ability. I agree Young has been poor defensively at times but he's better going forward than Onuoha and is more of a natural RB. After years of debating whether the likes of John Curtis should play or not it's not a bad problem to have.
It's essential that Young plays (if fit of course), equal to Onouha defensively but much more assured going forward. This will also let MH play his prefered CB pairing with Ferdinand and Onouha. Only question defensively is who's playing LB. So far MH hasn't given any clear clues as to who he prefers, will it be Taiwo, Traore or Hill? I'm split as to who I prefer there too.
I think a fit and in form Gabbi gives us pace and tackling ability, Hill the rest, particularly positioning, tackling and strong in the air. LB is difficult too, it will be Taiwo I suppose, but he and Traore looked so bad when they played together before. I'd like to see Traore at left midfield getting his good crosses in, so I hope the 2 T's have sorted themselves out!
Personally I blame Cisse's red card for Young's injury as he was busting a gut trying to give support to the attack whilst trying to defend as in the Norwich game and this also left him exposed at the back, leading to some critism. I think when fit with 11 men on the pitch he is one of our better defenders and IMO our best option at RB.
I would like to see a back four of Young Onuoha Hill Taiwo. Traore needs to be on the wing in front of Taiwo. With Tarbs on the other side Zamora and Mackie/DJ up front. I think we should give Cerny a go as we are at home. Trying to think of the other two in midfield, don't like Barton, is Buz fit? so who's left?
DJ will not start training until next week but I am with you on the set up I like the idea that Taiwo and Traore can cover for each other at LB if one or the other attacks.
As I recall Luke did his hamstring taking a free kick. In other news there is no doubt that Taiwo will start at left back, getting better every game. Hopefully they will have worked out how he links with who ever plays on the left, Adel or Traore.
He had been making costly errors in a few games this year, though I thought he was good in the autumn.
That maybe so but he had been putting in a huge effort directly before the injury, one thing can lead to another, just my opinion.
