YOUNG EAGER FOR PREM RETURN The current international break may have given most of the R's squad a weekend off in the Barclays Premier League, but Luke Young insists he'd rather be facing Stoke City this Saturday. A trip to the Britannia Stadium next weekend will come on the back of a two-week break for QPR, who were just edged out of their last top-flight fixture - a five-goal thriller with table-toppers Manchester City. Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Young said: "There's always a strange mood around the training ground on an international break. "A few lads go away and you're training with less numbers. "It's always a little bit of a strange mood and one of frustration too. As a player, you want games to come thick and fast. "You feel that this season's hardly got going with the amount of international breaks we've had." The pause in league action has, however, given the 32 year-old right-back time to reflect on that defeat to City. "These are the types of games where you make once false move and before you know it, you're a goal down," Young added. "We've had a difficult run but we've come away from it with three points from the three games (Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City) - and a minus two goal difference. "When you look at the teams that we've played and how much they can spend, that's not bad at all. "I think we need to take the positives and make sure that when we come up against the sides we're expected to do well against, we match the effort that we put in during those three games." He continued: "I think we acquitted ourselves pretty well and were disappointed not to get anything from the Man City game. "They've got so much quality up front and we did well to contain them for long spells of the game. "At home, we've decided that whoever comes, they're on our patch and we're going to let them know that we're there and we're going to have a go at them. "It seemed to work against Chelsea and we put on a decent performance against City." Young's arrival at Loftus Road - along with Anton Ferdinand - in late August has given Rangers some much-needed defensive steel. And the defender - born and bred in Harlow - admits he's loving life back in the capital. "I'm enjoying myself here and I'm enjoying the challenge," Young said. "I had three years at Aston Villa and just felt I was coming to the stage in my career where I needed to get my teeth into something. "Coming down here has given me a new lease of life. "I really want to do well here - and for us to progress as a team and stay in the Premier League first and foremost." iReader
Tbh I don't think I've ever been so indifferent to international football... and that makes these breaks even more frustrating.
What makes me laugh is that the so called experts are always banging on about our season being to long and that we need a mid season break. We have already had 3 international breaks of 2 weeks, anymore and the players will need another pre season..
