Willem II have confirmed that highly-rated teenager Jeroen Lumu is to spend the next few days on trial with Hull City. The 18-year-old attacker, a Holland youth international, has already broken into the first team at Willem and is regarded as one of the most exciting young prospects in the country. Reports suggest he has previously attracted attention from numerous clubs around Europe, and Hull have moved quickly to take a look at Lumu. "Jeroen Lumu has gone to England for an internship at Hull City AFC," read a statement on the club's official website. "The young striker from Willem II goes from 16 to 21 December, for the chance to play in the Premier League club in the spotlight. "We wish Jeroen luck!" Got our name right-and we are now famous!
Hows a trial work then? Is he likely to get a reserves game or just join in with training while they evaluate him?
Maybe because Gedo and Fryatt are not good enough to get on the bench we need to look towards securing someone else to do this?
If that is the case I fail to see why we would spend time\money on him in January. Surely January is the time for bringing players in who can make a difference straight away?
He's only ever started three professional football matches, there's no way he'd be anywhere near the first team.
What's happened with that hyphenated name player (and if anyone wishes to claim I'm disrespecting him by not typing his name out - judging by my record of spelling I would get it wrong)
I made this point a while ago in regards to buying players who weren't going to come into the first team. But this guy sounds like he'd be relatively cheap and a potential star of the future with a decent sell on value.
If you get the chance to sign someone in Jan, who is one for the future, what is the issue? We wouldn't be signing him with a view to putting him up front with Sagbo. He'd be here with a view that he 'might' be the next Beralhino/Januzaj/Benteke. I'm sure we'll still be in the market for a 'proven' centre forward.
trying to take the club from category 3 (worst in prem) to category 2 Professional Development League. thats why we are bringing in young ones.
We need modern facilities to upgrade our academy status. That's how clubs are judged worthy of an upgrade, not the quality of our youth. That's how i understand it anyway.
