Who here loves KaBOOM!? I do.
I don't think he gets enough appreciation. Harry singled him out recently and rightly so, but its not enough.

He has come on leaps and bounds in his 2nd stint at the lane. He isn't even 26 til january which is still young for a centre back. I think he'll continue to improve.

For me, he is the replacement we've been looking for on that fateful day when Ledley calls it quits.
I can't see a better defender that is likely to be available to us.

There will be lots of talk, as usual, about our players leaving. Most will be about Modders and Bale, but we need to make sure we hang on to this chap just as much.

So glad you've made this thread mate, I'm a huge fan of his and I actually said on another post about him being the MOTM vs Villa where as most were saying Luka/ Scotty/ Bale etc and how well he's come on this season. I actually made a £450 bid for his shirt for the Poppy Auctions but naturally some rich tw*t decided to pretty much double my offer :(

He's a bully in the air and his tackling and positioning has improved greatly since his first stint with us. Will never be as good as King but as you say, he's probably the best option around we could possibly have. Definitely has the potential to become one of, or dare I say it, the best in the league if he continues at the rate he's going.

    I'll talk about Bale:
Bale is not as good in the air as KABOOM! Plus, Bale doesn't eat Andy Carroll's for breakfast.

I've been appreciating Kaboul on the quiet all season. However, for some reason this morning i looked on his wikipedia page and saw he was still 25. Couldn't believe it. I knew he wasn't old, but i thought he was 27ish.

I think he could be as good as King. He is the age now when King got his injuries. If he stays fit he's gonna develop a lot more than King over the next few years. If (and its a big if) he can learn some of King's "tricks of the trade" with regards to positioning, intelligence and general awesomeness then i don't see why not.

    Favourite Kaboul moment?

Mine would be his winner for us against the Gooners at the New Library.

Scoring the 4th in our draw against Villa on the anniversary night was a good moment as well. To come back from 4-1 was impressive.

Can't disagree with that. Actually had a feeling for the Goon game that he was going to get on the end of one of them crosses. Start of the game I said to my mate that Kaboul would out jump their centre backs with ease. Love it when I'm right, nothing beats fuelling my ego! :D

The problem we have is that we have a very good left back, a very good right back, a very good centre back and a superhuman centre back (King).
Defensively i think he's probably better than Walker, but Walker is also a potent attacking threat, and also has pace.
I think Benny is on a par with Kaboul defense wise.
I do think its almost pointless to compare full backs to centre backs though, they're diff positions.

We'd be better off comparing Kaboul to our rivals:
    Kaboul > Koscielny :)
Vermaelen (when fit) > Kaboul :(
Still on the fence re. Mertesacker.
Terry > Kaboul (not for long) :(
    Kaboul > Luiz :)
    Kaboul = Alex :|
    Kaboul > Agger :)
    Kaboul > Skrtel :)
    Kaboul > Carragher :)
    Coloccini > Kaboul :(
    Kaboul > S Taylor :)

Others may agree/disagree. But i think Kaboul would get into the starting XIs of all those teams.

It was taking all our defenders into account - I wouldn't say Dawson is above him anymore

If Kaboul is the worst defender we have then we are in an awesome position squad wise!

I agree, i think kaboul has overtaken dawson now. Dawson's had some unfortunately timed injuries over the last couple of seasons which has given Kaboul the opportunity to kick on.
Isn't Gallas fit again now? He can't get back in the team at the moment.

To underline how his stature has grown, recall v Shamrock where we were a bit shaky when they scored.
Harry bought Younes on and the whole team was lifted from his first touch, mind you he also bought on someone called Modric too!

I always maintained Ramos should've never sold him in the first place.

Ramos destroyed his confidence. I recall him being our only fit centre half, plus a youngster, plus being new to the club. We were shipping goals like it was going out of fashion (eg, 4 at home vs villa). Poor guy.
Luckily Harry rescued him and luckily we then got Harry who brought him back.

The thing is, he couldn't (and shouldn't) have been singled out, and neither should've Dawson or Gomes (alright, occasionally Gomes) - Zokora was at fault for failing to protect the back four, which was his job, but was never the scapegoat. Just think how many long-range goals Robbo conceded when Zokora was there ,compared to when Davids/Carrick were shoring up midfield.

Parker got Pav's song, Adebyor occasionally gets an updated, more polite rendition but a few rounds of "Yido" seems to be the prefered choice at the moment. Brad needs a song, Walker needs a song and Sandro needs a song so we're definitely off the pace.

If Sandro had been given number 5 for the new season we could have sung Lou Bega's Sandro number 5 but the bosses at Spurs have scuppered us again.
