I think if the season started now you fellas would walk it quite easily, just wondering who you think would win if the season started right now?
I'd like to think we will have some say in it! But I wouldn't be against us city or Chelsea. They have made some decent signings!
nobody ever walks it...City thought they could..but there is alot of pride in the PL...and even the likes of Wigan can put a dampner on proceedings..however i know it will be a better season than last because alot of the chasing pack has strengthened.
I'm happy with the squad we have, particularly as we still have the prospect of an additional striker and RB to come on board! Having said that I dont do predictions! Our performance in the PL will depend on where we place our priorities i.e will the CL be our key objective? Or will we put priority on lifting the PL? If it was my decision I'd go for PL and CL and leave the domestic cups to the "second team"!
You and me both. I don't think it is disrespectful to play back up players in the FA and whatever the other one is called this year, especially against some lower placed sides. No team in Europe won all their domestic competitions and the CL last year, simply because it is nigh on impossible. As much as we'd love to do it, history suggests we should prioritise and go for the one or two that will benefit the Club the most, as you say PL and CL.
United have too many problems at the back to win it for me. I can't see beyond City. No matter who we sign these players will have no experience of playing together. it will take time for players to gel. The schedule this year will mess us up as well
City will be hard to beat as the only thing holding against them last year was experience of a title run in. They have now got that title under the belt which should mean they will fare even better in the last few months of the season. We'll be better no doubt but to go from 6th to 1st is unheard of. Priority should be a top 3-4 finish and the C.L especially as holders and with the final at Wembley.
Unless City sell and sign players they wont strengthen. United are already far stronger than last season considering Kagawa has been signed and Vidic will almost certainly not miss the majority of the season. As of yet I dont see Chelsea in the top 4, signed some good players but also lost one of the most important players you have. The player who saved your club last season. No actual goal scorer in the team currently so a lack of goals at this moment to me gives you little chance of the title. Still time though, United will make a signing this week, hopefully Mountinho and not Baines and City are playing silly ****s over RVP ( more evidence the party is over for City, last year he would already of been signed, Hazard would of been theres and they would of spent loads by now, Mancini says he nees to spend yet hes not even showed interest in anyone, weird ). Whats happening on the Hulk front?
I wouldn't say United a far stronger. Kagawa looks a good player but unproven and will take time to adjust. Scholes and Giggs another year older, Rooney coming off the back of another awful tournament ditto Ashley Young. United could win the title or just as easily drop down the table. They don't have a squad full of special players just a team that works well together.
Problems at the back? What are they? If we are talking injuries then I agree to a point. We have suffered more than most with injuries in recent years but theres no way of saying for sure if they will effect us this season. Vidic will be back which is a massive boost, even if hes not as good as he was his mere presence will be a boost. Our young players in defence have had a full season together and made lots of progress. Our keeper showed during the second half of the season that hes up there with the best in the league and a full season behind him will help. All in all our defence is one of our strongest parts of the team, we have coped with injuries there for a while now and still been at worst the second best team in the country. Midfield is the issue, if thats sorted and with the right player then as a United fan I would be very confident going into the season.
BELIEVE! MUFC " Manchester United new kit has been referred to by many as a table cloth....which suits us fine as there is only one place for a table cloth... On Top of The Table" With everything else standing all over it
I think Kagawa has proven himself. Do you mean in the PL? Obviously he hasnt as hes yet to play a game for us but as a footballer hes more than proved himself. Shortlisted for WPOTY, one of if not the best player in Germany last season and one of the best the season before. Star player for a nation ranked 10th in the world. Hes not some nobody, thats for sure. Rooney played rubbish for England all the time, it never effects him at United and as for Young, back up player next season. Nani will start almost every game on the left and Valencia on the right. As I say, a CM signing and we are all set, our team is a team and individuals hamper team efforts. We have Nani, Rooney, Young, Kagawa, Welbeck, Hernandez all to do the individual match winning stuff if needed.
You don't know that. Bar Smalling and Vidic your defence is awful from left to right. Evra and Rio are not the players they were 3/4 years ago and Jones is no defender. United are not FAR stronger than last season, that's bull IMO, even though I agree Kagawa is a cracking player who I can't wait to see in the PL Over the last 3 seasons it's become clearer that games vs your immediate rivals are more pivotal than in previous seasons. Spurs would have got 3rd had they not lost to Arsenal, United would have got 1st had they not lose to City, Chelsea would have got 5th had they not lost to Newcastle. How well United do will depend on their head to head vs City. At the moment United look scared every time they play City, in contrast to Arsenal and Chelsea who both fought bravely against them and took the game to them. For a club like us to only be winning 1/3 of our away games isn't good enough IMO, to stand a chance of the title we need to be winning around 2/3. Even WBA (with all due respect) won more away games than us last year and Fulham (traditionally poor travellers) only won 2 less
I dont know if Vidic will feature all season but I would think its quite likely. Evans was also fantastic last season. So Vidic, Smalling, Jones, Rio ( who again was fantastic, one of the best defenders in the league last season ). Is there a better set of central defenders in the country? Certainly better individuals than some but collective? Explain how we are weaker. Perhaps the loss of Michael Owen will effect us more than anyone else alive to day understands? Otherwise I dont see a reason. Fact is we are stronger and considering how close we came with half our team injured then its fair to say we will be right up there finishing no lower than 2nd.
They would have been far stronger had they signed the one they really wanted i.e Hazard but he chose the European Champions
Ah we certainly missed out but as things stand we havent done too badly signing a player who performed better in a tougher league. I have no doubt in the future Hazard will become a world class player but as of now Kagawa is the better player though hey play slightly different roles.
