yes, saw this the other day. to be fair, its easy to see why the ref might have thought it went in but that's why goal line technology has come in!

 

with sweden drawing portugal in the world cup play offs, it means one of either cristiano ronaldo or zlatan ibrahimovic will miss out on the world cup finals next summer. seems a shame

 

It was only when they said something I realised it went through the side netting lol. So the officials can't be blamed for that one.

 

the thing i couldn't get my head round with this ghost goal, was the hole in the netting, as you couldn't see it on the tv shots.

 

tremendously difficult one for the officials but shouldn't the assistant referee check the netting before kick off? i don't suppose they expect to find a little hole - they tend to look for the netting not being tight to the ground. even the guy who 'scored' was holding his head afterwards and seemed to tell the official he felt it went wide. i think hoffenheim were trying to get the game replayed

 

Strangest thing for me was the lack of protest / concern from the keeper. If he'd had his angles covered correctly, you'd think he'd have smelt a rat and maybe investigated?

That ghost goal was hilarious. I didn't see the fact it went wide at first so hard to really criticize the referee for that one. Fair play to Kiesling for trying to tell the referee as well, good sportsmanship.
