To be fair, Jones seemed to like signing a good few players from Scotland, although not many were that good. You've had Marshall, McNaughton, Rae, McCormack, Burke and Quinn IIRC. Considering some of the talent at the other clubs in the SPL, and the fact that the likes of Glenda Loovens looks like he's never seen a ball in his life before, you should be able to find a few bargains up here that would improve your side. Even the likes of Riordan on a free from Hibs would be a good shout I reckon, as long as he could be kept out of the pubs in Cardiff for more than 10 minutes...
Ledley is the only one who looks like he has something about him so far, time will tell. Big Glenda needs to be retired. You should probably give your boys longer contracts to stop people like us, who hate a transfer fee but pay a wage, from keep swooping in.
Glenda isn't a football player so make 2, you odviously aren't doing enough to keep them (probably down to cash).
To be honest , a group of our fans takes notions of not liking certain players. Poor Loovens fell into that trap and our unhappy very noisy fans did not to improve his confidence. His first year at Celtic Park he was not blessed with a good midfield in front of him. This season he was injured or appeared to be injured but on the few occasions he did play the better midfield meant he looked more the part.
Biigest problem with Loovens is his lapses in concentration. If he had someone like Davie Weir beside him he would probably be a decent defender but he just makes too many stupid mistakes.
I'll agree we've had mixed success with the Scottish players. McNaughton is by far the best defender we've had in many years and I was a big fan of Burke and McCormack as well. We nearly signed Riordan some years ago if I remember although not sure why we didn't
I think Celtic should go for Burke. Why? He won't cost anything, he played for Celtic BC and is a supporter and his form of late has been good with some great goals. He played for Rangers but so did Kenny Miller.
How Cardiff managed to swindle £2.5million off us for Loovens I'll never know. I think us getting one time £8million rated and Rangers target Ledley for free last season makes us even.
