Well spotted Mighty, how come you can't spot the millwall player infringing in the box next to the ref ? justice was done Sky said it was never a pen.
This interests me. As an ex-goalkeeper, I look at this piccie and think: Why isn't the goalie standing on his line (as the rules dictate) and why is he moving BEFORE the ball is kicked (as the rules dictate)? I've also noticed that in the modern game, players taking penalty kicks often change feet in their run-up, or, even stop completely before kicking (not as the rules dictate). Whe I was a boy............................. (fill in the blanks)
Oh, well. If SKY says it wasn't a penalty, then is wasn't. Of course SKY has a referee's ticket.....doesn't it?
Brissie, the rules have been changed (a while back)...and the goal keeper can move side to side on the goal line When I was a boy.............................you could shoulder charge the goalie over the goal line if he had the ball in his hands thats why they were alll a similar size and shape to one of Leeds finest .....Fat Paddy Kenny
It wasn't a stonewall penalty it was one of them debatable penalties where it could or could not be given in this case it was given, at the time i thought we were fortunate to get it and now i've seen the replays it was definately a penalty the keeper(Westwood) bundled Williams over from behind, also you'll notice that had Williams hit the ball slightly softer the ball would had hit Westwood on the arse when it came off the post and rebounded back into the goal.
I remember Nat Lofthouse jumping up behind Harry Gregg (Man U) and heading the ball out of his hands. Lofthouse's knees contacted(?) Greggs kidneys, but no foul was given. Also seeing Georgie Best nick the ball from a keeper as the keeper was bouncing it before kicking. Can't do that today, eh?
wont mention any names but were we the better team ? only someone said it was good that leeds were playing their first game against the worst team in this division,
If you do not know 'your arse from your elbow', then it really isn't that difficult to make a statement like 'leeds were playing their first game against the worst team in this division,' The start to the season has really affected my business plans, as I was due to set up a shop very close to Elland Road selling rose coloured spectacles....so that they could 'march on together'.......... does anybody have any ideas on what I could sell them now ???
