He'd definitely be a Warnock style striker and I think Liverpool would be hoping to offload him asap. If he does go permanently it'll be nowhere near £35 million...

Prefer Helgs at the moment. Yesterday am on SSN, they announced that Carroll had been put on diet, special training etc to 'rejuvenate his premier league career'. A man paid that much money to do a professional job of football should have the self control to lay off the pies and doughnuts!!

Think he would be very bad for us - easy target for route 1 football just when we are passing the ball well. Plus this lad clearly doesn't have the self discipline needed and London would be a massive distraction for him. Shame because it would be great to have a classic English number 9 available for the national team.

If only on loan then where is the downside, if he is not performing , he doesn't play and is sent back. The one thing that worries me at the moment is how light our squad is. We only had 5 subs on saturday and with barton suspended for Norwich and the possibilty of traore andyoung carrying knocks i'm a bit worried about the next fixture. We need some depth until Jan, maybe this is the way forward!

We can't get anyone new in until the transfer window opens - buys or loans. Every team has a 25 man squad, so nobody has a 'bigger' squad than us. But we have Dyer and DJ out long term, and frankly a few others in the squad who aren't up to it, so entirely agree that we lack depth, just can't do anything about it until Jan.

A lack of homegrown young players is costing us in this 25 man squad thing. Also the fact we have got players of the calibre of Bruno Perone in there is not helping. Unless we field our strongest 11 we tend to struggle ( i keep thinking of bolton and fulham ) . When we do field our strongest team mind we are a match for anyone. Fingers crossed the injuries picked up on Sat are not too bad !

With all this talk of David Beckham being available now that the US league has finished I don't anyone has given Robbie Keane a second thought as surely he will be available from Jan -June on a short term loan.

My money is on Keane not a bad guess?

    :1980_boogie_down:Cheer up, Flanman!

His name came up here during the summer, opinion sharply divided as far as I can remember. At international level he's a phenomenal goalscorer and his club statistics aren't half bad either. He wants to stay sharp for the Euros in the summer so his commitment would be good.
He can blow hot and cold and maybe his sharpness is gone at PL level but an interesting proposition none theless.

I like him a lot, Warnock would get him back on form as well.
Don't think 35mill men get sent on loan though!

This is the most interesting post for a while. Israel was spot on with the Barton-joining prediction and even gave us Joey's joining speech verbatim.

Presumably Liverpool want someone to take over Carroll's wages while they decide what to do with him, and we're the only rich club that needs him. I'd take him.

How fat do you think he'd look in Hoops? Bigger than Holt.....
If Neil wants him I would of course trust his judgement, but somehow can't see it.....

what worries me is that IF Carroll does come down to London he will find a lot moe bars to party in......
Decent player, Liverpool paid over the odds for him but he has potentail to be a real class act IF he can sort out is head and concentrate on the football. Wonder if Liverpool would like Dave in return?

Apparently Lionel Messi was quoted in 'The Catalan Echo ' as saying...

'' I went to speak to Pep ( Guardiola ) in his office.
I told him Spanish football is too easy for me,it is worse than Scottish football.
    I need a new challenge.
Maybe I should try Premiership League, I would like to be part of Colin's Rangers Revolution.
But after reading the Not6o6 QPR board, I don't think their fans will want me, it seems like
no-one is good enough to wear their famous hoops anymore. ''
