Ok I am obviously in the minority here, but I like David Beckham.
There are very few players who deserve to put on the 3 lions more than him. He is England through and through. He has taken more stick over time probably than our own Lee Johnson, but rather than lash out against it he has knuckled down and simply tried harder.
His lowest point was that silly kick against simione in the WC, but he beat Greece on his own a few years later to make us qualify for the next comp.
I find it interesting that its the same people criticising Becks for being overpaid who were defending Maynard for wanting to 'better himself'.
I don't give a stuff about Man U, Real Madrid or LA Galaxy, but I care passionately about Bristol City - and England, and if the rest of the pillocks picked for England had half the passion of Becks when he pulled on the shirt we might actually win something one day.
He is a simple man who loves his football and loves playing for his country - and I love him for it.
