I have read a couple of threads and articles today regarding the amount of signings we are making and the amount of money we are spending and what effect that this is having on the clubs debt considering we are only getting crowds of 18,000.

Firstly I would like to point out at the amount of money we trimmed of the wage bill at the end of the season with the release of 9 or 10 players who were given vastly inflated contracts when Flavio and Bernie took over in there quest for the 4 year plan. If you believe some of the rumours people like One size were pocketing £10k a week or more! This move made room for the first influx of signings (Green, Nelson, Johnson) which were free transfers and I am sure MH wasnt taken to town in wages as IMHO he is definitely a more shrewd operator than Sir Neil.

I am sure the signing of Diakite was already part of our transfer budget and Fabio will not have commanded a fee as Sir Alex wanted him to go on loan for the experience. As for the signing of Park, well, that was like a free transfer with all the revenue that is likely to produce in the Far East for the club.

On top of this I am sure there will be further sales from the first team squad with the likes of Hulse, Bothroyd, Campbell and Young following Paddy out of the door and therefore trimming the wage bill even further and giving MH more room at the club for his last couple of signings and topping up his transfer budget as his players will ALL command a transfer fee.

On top of this we are being run by a man who built an airline from nothing to one of the biggest award winning airlines in the world today, so I am sure he knows the current investment is needed to guarantee long term growth and will not put the club back into the financial difficulties we suffered in the past.

I think as QPR fans we are right to be concerned about our financial stability due to the problems we suffered in the past, but in TF and the team he is building at the club we should trust and enjoy what is going to be a long a prosperous future.

    Come on you R's!

    Yes that is true.
But i now believe we have lucked out grandtemps.
It's like we are living in a council house in Shepherd's Bush and a billionaire film director has driven past in his Roller and though 'that is a sexy slum, i want to buy it, do it up put a flush toilet in and put one over on my poncey mates in Kensington'
Sparky said last year that if we survived we could 'have some fun' and now we can see why he and others bought into 'the project' so readily..
other clubs (particularly the ferret up the trousers lot) are struggling to keep up but we are 'holding folding' and we deserve to enjoy this..
i know it is bad karma but i am looking forward to larging it up with the ruperts, the turkey fiddlers, the sheepbotherers and the yids (AVB HA HA!)

And yet another great post rebel. I love the analogies, I hope we do have some fun this season and that we can bring a breath of fresh air to the prem. They don't like it up 'em.

I have complete faith in the people running the club. As beard said in an interview the other day, there are some seriously good business people at the helm.

At the end of the day, we've lost more players than we've signed and we've spent a measly £2m on transfer fees. A few more shrewd signings won't break the bank. I would be worried if those reports of £11m for alves or £8m for berbatov or even £7m for ki were true, we're just not in that market at moment but i'm sure TF already knows that. Two more £3-4m signings with resale value won't break the bank.

    Great OP Mortlake <ok>

    Love your post Rebel :emoticon-0102-bigsm

You know how Tony like to talk about how many planes Air Asia ownes now compared to when he took over, buying players for the R's goes along the same lines, only it's peanuts in comparison. We need more and better players to grow, just like his company needs more planes to get bigger/better.

Sparky supposedly has a transfer budget of about £20 mill we've heard talk about. So far he's spent approx £5,5m (Diakite & Park), sold Kenny for £500k + further sales expected. Meaning plenty of money left, and as we've also heard, if the right player comes along the money is there.

Of course you need to spend, not just to grow but to survive in the Premiership it is essential. We have seen to our detriment in the past what happens when you don't,and it is just the way of modern football(alas)that money speaks. The more of it you have the better your going to do,simple.Blackburn managed to win the Prem by spending plenty, the scum down the road have been doing it since Roman came along, and now City are doing it on an even bigger scale.I'm afraid that these days if you don't spend, your doomed!

That is a very good OP. Its the other side of the coin to NUT'S equally persuasive argument.

Both are legitimate and reasonable positions to take and I like the fact that we can have these differing opinions without jumping down each others throats.
