Newcastle star's 'car stolen while being arrested'

Newcastle star Nile Ranger reportedly had his £120,000 car stolen while he was being arrested by police.

The striker was stopped by police on suspicion of drink-driving early on Sunday morning and asked to step out of the car, according to the Daily Mirror.

Then while police were speaking to Ranger, two men drove away in his car.

Ranger was arrested and then bailed pending the result of a blood test, while two men were then later brought in by police on suspicion of taking the vehicle without consent.

"At 4:53am on Sunday, officers stopped a Range Rover on Clayton Street in Newcastle. The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while over the limit," said a spokesman for Northumbria Police.

"While officers were speaking to the man outside of the vehicle, the Range Rover drove off. Officers stopped the vehicle nearby and two men, 18 and 21, were arrested for being carried by a motor vehicle taken without consent and TWOC.

"The 18-year-old has been released and a 21-year-old man has been charged with driving the vehicle when above the limit and driving with no insurance."

The Mirror claims that Ranger has a "highly distinctive black and white vehicle, which has 'Ranger' on the bonnet and 'Power Ranger' on the back."

Ranger seemed to be unbothered by the incident as he posted on Twitter after the incident: "Lifes (sic) Too Short To Worry About Things", before revealing that he was going to get a new tattoo on his elbow.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has warned Ranger about his behaviour in the past after he was previously pictured holding a replica gun in a "gangster" pose.

After that incident Pardew said: "I very rarely shut the door on anybody, but Nile needs to understand the responsibilities of being a professional footballer. That's all he needs to understand. It is not just about what happens on the football field."

Ranger has scored just two goals for Newcastle in 49 games. The club refused to comment on this latest incident.
