Occasionally you find something that is so preposterous or unlikely that you could not make it up. This thread is for such gems of incredulity.

Here is a starter for you:

A king penguin was given a guard of honour as it was promoted to a new rank at a ceremony attended by 160 uniformed soldiers.

Sir Nils Olav III, which lives at Penguins Rock at Edinburgh Zoo, is the official mascot of His Majesty the King’s Guard of Norway and receives ceremonial visits.

Yesterday the Daily Star carried a story with this headline: "Son of sex-obsessed ex-Prem star who now sells condoms is shining in Championship."

The story was about Watford's Yáser Asprilla and his presumed father, Faustino Asprilla, who has gone into the sexual health business with a flavoured condom company in his native Colombia since retiring from playing. The major problem with this story was that the two Asprillas are not related. The journalist who posted the story had clearly not done much research and the story was removed from the Daily Star's website after a couple of hours when people pointed out the error in written comments below the report.

Andrew French reported this story in the Watford Observer approximately one hour after I had posted my comment. Apparently the Daily Star removed their article after the club had seen the story and made a request that it should be removed.

Four years ago the constituency office of Ian Duncan Smith was attacked with graffiti. His comments at the time are not repeatable. Today, he's praising people who vandalize traffic cameras. I suspect he is hoping to retain his seat.
