Post Match Interview Applauds our attacking play but criticises the defence for that first half performance! Brighton set us some unusual challenges in that first half. Despite the excellent Razak and Lua Lua weaving through our midfield with concerning ease, their most effective tactic was to hit long diagonal balls over our centre backs for Barnes and Smith to run onto. Rarely have I seen Chester and Hobbs get turned as much as they did last night. Credit to Poyet for his tactical nowse. Barmby and Wigley sussed it out at half time though and got McKenna and Evans to press the ball much quicker thereby drying up the supply. Somthing odd is going on tho. How NB can contintinue to say the phrase "On another night" after every single game is beyond me. As virtually everyone has said, our lack of ability in front of goal will cost us in the end. But the management either refuse or are unable to admit this and do anything about it. Hope we don't lose our great kids in the Summer!
what i do not understand is that a p or the allams not doing anything about it. they have got to see the lack of goals and yet choose to do nothing. i can only think they are not ready for the prem next season! i do believe we will finish mid table. mmmm yes i know "glass half empty"
I don't think we will finish mid-table, but I also don't think we will finish in the play-offs. That was a significant game last night, particularly as Birmingham, Boro and Wet Spam won and won well away from home the night before.
Was looking at the table this morning - there are only 4 teams that have scored less than us this season, and they occupy 4 of the bottom 5 places. It's a bloody good job we've therefore got such a good defense otherwise we'd be in serious trouble of going down, nevermind griping about not making the play-offs.
Dont be relying on Adam for anything. Contrary to what most City fans think/know, he is simply winding his lucrative City contract down til end of season . His heart ie his wallet is in Hull FC for some reason. True unfortunately.
This is the thing, every team has frustrating days in front of goal but they don't have them every week and it isn't entirely predictable each time.
Presumably because if they interfered in team matters like that they would be seriously undermining the authority of a very promising, and almost universally popular, manager. Possibly to the extent he would consider it unacceptable and walk.
For some reason that post reminded me of the old bloke in troy who reckoned they'd win the war because he saw an eagle carrying a snake No idea why
I still think that's a front for the Allams. They know they can't own both rugby clubs due to conflict of interest, and trust Pearson more than the ambulance chaser. Lending Rovers money would I assume prevent them from owning FC (it would if it were two football clubs) so they've got AP as a front on the FC deal to enable them to help out all the local sports teams. (I've covered the "why do they want to do that?" elsewhere)
If anything, the Allam's are anti-FC, they're definitely more on board at KR(as a consequence, I wouldn't discount what lexg said, unfortunately).
You know its true Lammie and u know i dont post random ****e. Shame about the sad individual above but i will give him the benefit of doubt on this occasion. If he wants to think Adam cares for City and the Allams over his own club then more fool him.
Just fyi. I hate rugby league with a passion in case you assumed what i was telling you related to me being a Hull FC fan. I am a City fan. Adam is no longer heavily involved at City. Believe it or not. Who cares.
With 37 posts you haven't posted much of anything for us to form an opinion to be fair. Personally I think Adam cares for what makes him money. The question I raised over him buying FC was whether it's actually him who's bought the club or not (slightly changes the "over his own club" element of things). I don't really care either way, but with the way the Allams are treating sport in the city and the stadium issue being big at the time of the purchase there's plenty to suggest it would have been "convenient" for the Allams to get him to front their purchase of FC so that they could remain viable options to provide KR with financial support in one form or another. There's plenty of reasons you'd get away with referring to me as a sad individual (like posting at 1am on a Friday night/Saturday morning), but I don't think recognising that convenience and questioning it is one.
I don't think Assem Allam's motivation is to help the club for the club's sake though. It seems more about the public perception, acknowledgement, and a need to feel they've given to the whole of the city (I've explained this properly on a previous thread so I'm shortcutting it here). Whether they're pro or anti-FC as individuals would be irrelevent, if in order to get what they wanted out of their involvement with sports they needed to help FC they would. As I've just said to lexg though, I don't particularly care either way. Whether it's the Allam's getting long term recognition, or Adam making money, the clubs have all started with **** all so they need to be successful for the owners to get what they want, and that means who ever owns what has to have the interests of the clubs in mind.
