You can all thank me for masterminding our win on saturday. Just before the Bradford game I sent Martin a three-page long letter advising him on how the team could be improved to grab us wins. Arrogant you may think but four of my major suggestions were put into effect on saturday and we won. First of you should all know that I have been crying for Callum Davies to be played for the last few weeks and I did suggest to put him in the team. Puts Callum and we keep a clean sheet. 1-0 to PegLeg. I then talked about how poor we have been from set plays this season and that we should try and use Joe Martin to take free-kicks as this club has a good pedigree for free-kick taking left backs (Jackman, Nutter etc). Martin takes a free-kick and its 2-0.2-0 to PegLeg. Also regarding the situation on set-plays I also recommended that Whelpdale take the corners to try and cause more of a problem. Whelpdale corner goes in, bit of a scramble and Barrett tucks it away. 3-0 the Gills and 3-0 to the PegLeg. Finally my last suggestion was to play it on the floor, pass like we did last season and don't just ignore the midfield. We did that and hey ho its 4-0 to the PegLeg. Now I don't want to take all of the credit, the players did their bit too and MA took my advice, but I helped mastermind our 3-0 win. Hopefully MA will pay a bit more attention to my tactics from now. Martin if you are reading this, I'm available for consultations ps. this is all said in alwaysright tongue-in-cheek, but still its because of me
Sorry GPL but I reckon it's 3-0 to you, not 4-0. According to the Crewe Chronicle we didn't pass it. It was route 1 all day! http://www.crewechronicle.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/crewe-alex-crushed-by-gillingham-6106162 Quote - "That was the pattern, with Martin Allen's men going Route One at every occasion and firing long throws into the box from both flanks." So, those who went, were we route 1 bullies all day, or did we play some nice stuff as well. Sounds a little bitter to me, that reporter.
It certainly wasn't a footballing spectacle on par with Barca, but we certainly weren't hitting long balls all day. We played a nice mixture of the more direct ball and keeping it on the green. The main reason we weren't playing long balls all day was that the majority of the game was played in the Crewe third for at least 60 minutes of the game. The majority of our tackles were won by the midfield (and Lee wasn't even booked) in the centre third and so the long ball game simply wouldn't have work
The Gills PegLeg 1. I am always serious. 2. ( more importantly ) - the win had nothing to do with YOU ! - Martin Allen was never going to be impressed by a tatty note written on a scrap of paper - No - He showed the video I sent. The copy of the Thomas the Tank Engine I sent to Mr. Allen was uneditted - and it did contain all the inspirational language that had to be censored for this forum.
Thomas looked at the naughty trucks and said "Look lads you are sitting to deep when the diesels have the ball. You need to push up higher on the turn table and exploit the sidings.
When we were 3-0 up with 20 minutes to play, I nearly turned to you and accused you & the Crewe players of match fixing because your ridiculous 5-0 prediction was looking a good bet.
alwaysright I can't help but feel that your neighbours perfectly normal actions have lead you to insanity. Everybody throws their leaves over next door's gardens, its a way of saying "hi there neighbour!". Thomas and his mates were only echoing what I had typed out in my letter and therefore backing up that I masterminded the win.
Is it true you have been interviewed by Sunderland PegLeg or are you hanging on until MA moves on which is likely to be quite soon now? Remember so far as Scally is concerned the main priority is to produce a stream of players to sell on (something MA just does not comprehend).
I was contacted by Ellis Short but I didn't want the job, far too grim in the North East for me. Yes I am waiting out for MA to either leave or for Roy Hodgson to move to one side. On a serious note though, Martin has replied to my letter at last thanking me for support and that he appreciates my thoughts and opinions. I should think so it got us the win
brb yes I did, I tweeted a photo of it last night, I will pm you my twitter account but you are already following me.
