His loan spell ends after this season and Yossi will be back at Chelsea, where I think he has a year left on his contract. For us, he has scored four goals, and he scored that crucial winner against Aston Villa away. He has started against Spurs and I thought he was very good against them. Works hard and does not moan about not getting more games. A very good professional who does his job when selected. Chelsea will probably do a summer clear out and Yossi could be part of that. I think if they want to sell for around £3-5 Million, we should try and get him on a permanent basis. Players like him are good to have around the squad. They can play in the cup games and also in big games, when Wenger might want to take a more defensive approach. With our full backs, not being the greatest defenders, I think having players that can track back is key.

So, should we sign Yossi or not?

I was thinking this last night when I was watching the game. A really good player and really hard working for 3 mill I think we should snap him up, v useful squad player.

unless we are really going to sign a new star - then of course we should.

  5. I remember that Monday when the deals were due to be done and posted on his Twitter account asking him to come to us instead. Yes, sign him. He's proven to be a hard-working and useful player to have. Those 3 points against Villa will count for a lot at season's end. I would certainly prefer him to the likes of some others who do nothing for us and who have remained on our books because we haven't been able to offload them.

Hard decision, but I would say no. I don't think there is a whole lot of difference between him and Ramsey right now, but Ramsey is not on top form and has lost his finishing boots.

I don't belittle his contribution this year, but this is a valuable, non-homegrown squad space that we should be able to upgrade.

I like Ramsey a lot and he will come good but Yossi can play on either wing or in the middle. Ramsey is not as versatile. Yossi is more like Rosicky than Ramsey.

I agree, he's very similar to Rosicky, they both link play well and aren't necessarily direct, but good at keeping moves flowing. I guess he'd be a useful squad player, but for the wages he's probably on/would ask for and his age, I'd probably rather upgrade him and get a better versatile AM to fully challenge the starters there already.

  10. Going to market, are we pal? ;)

In that event, please do remember to bolt on the cart in which are Messrs Almunia, Denilson, Squillaci, Chamakh and Bendtner. <laugh>

Edit - £20m for Ramsey could be a good deal but what might it do to his confidence and what if in future he puts a few goals pass us? £20m could buy us a lot too I'm thinking.....

Yep. As, Toledo says, Yossi will take a non-homegrown spot. It's a difficult decision, maybe we should look to see if there is a potential upgrade on this sort of player, but if we can't find one, then we should turn to Yossi again.

    Rupees.

Only kidding. Though doubt he'd be that much even at his age, more 10-15, and that's mainly because he's the Welsh captain!

I'd buy him for £3 or 4 million and if his wage demands were reasonable. I've been impressed with the way he's played though, he is after all, only here on loan. You wouldn't have guessed it though, he plays with desire and has a great work ethic.

I enjoyed the responses to how much we could sell him for. As I have said I hope he will regain his promise - maybe next season. Right now I'd rest him. 'tries too hard, do the basics better' is my verdict.

  16. I suppose it's what we can achieve with any given player, isn't it? Then again we could have injuries so the players one has relied on cannot be called upon. Benny has worked hard and that's what's impressed me about him. I guess when it comes to signature time, it depends on who we have, who we are in line for and who we can get. Benny won't cost the earth and may prove a very useful buy.

Don't know why we loaned him to you lot, he never had a chance with us due to being injured. I was hoping with Yossi gone McEachran would play more but AVB had other plans.*

Don't try to fathom out AVB, mate - you'll get a headache. You mention he had plans - any idea what they were?
Cull all the over 28 year-olds I suppose?
