Yoshida came into a very hostile situation when he joined - hadn't even been introduced to the papers when he was put on at Arsenal away. He's on Sky Sports 1 soon. I think he's been superb this season so far. Ok a few mistakes but generally brilliant. What do you think?
I think hostile is a bit strong! I don't think theres a nasty player amongst our entire squad. Boruc is mental though!
Here's a run-down of Maya's words... "I would love to score, and celebrate together with our fans. So I hope you can all be patient with me, so that we can!" "Adkins is a VERY nice guy. It's probably the first time I have worked with such a positive person in my life." "What is so great about Nigel Adkins is, I have never ever felt down. The main reason we are so confident and have kept going is the way he is." "I have mixed feelings about the Olympics, due to the end result. But I showed my worth, and ultimately this helped me get to Southampton. So it was successful for me." "Hopefully Kagawa's success makes it easier for more Japanese, with the luck of Shinji and my own performances I hope that we can impress and create opportunities for the future of Japanese football."
What Yoshida said about Adkins is the very reason that we shouldn't replace him. He makes any team achieve above themselves. By the way, anyone see Villa's manager on Sky having another dig about Adkins support for JRod over the penalty. Build a bridge mate and GET OVER IT.
He said of Adkins: "He is a very nice guy. It's probably the first time I've worked with such a positive person and manager in my career. What is great about him is I do not often get down and that is because of him. I think one of the reasons Southampton are regaining confidence and our form, is the way he treats his players, his attitude towards us definitely has a positive effect on the team." I think that is relevant to yesterday. The mini-documentary on Yoshida talked about his movement into the Saints squad and his international career. I mean hostile as in our goal was being attacked by the ball a lot - especially at Arsenal.
Here's a pic of what looks like a Japanese football magazine being read by Yoshida in the Itchen Stands. please log in to view this image [/IMG]
Well I think he's on the verge of losing his regular starting place to Forren. He's been a decent acquisition considering he was fairly cheap, but he makes me nervous at times.
I think he's done well. Its been tough for the whole team since day one, so coming in & not having much time to intergrate is harsh. A little question mark over his distribution, but other than that think he's been a important signing.
I quite like Yoshida, after a shaky start he has stepped up well. He looks reasonable value for his £2m fee, at least.
He's an important signing but only because of the alternatives. I won't be upset should he lose his place to Forren.
