If you're craving for a day out and to watch a bit of footy. A Sunderland XI will test themselves against newly-promoted League Two side York City this summer after a pre-season friendly fixture at Bootham Crescent was confirmed. The Black Cats' lineup - which will feature reserve and academy players - will travel to face Gary Mills' side on Tuesday 7th August 2012, kick-off 7.30pm. Tickets will be available on the turnstiles on the evening of the game, priced at £10 for general admission and £5 for concessions. York have enjoyed a thrilling season since being defeated 2-1 by Sunderland's first team at the same ground last summer, finishing fourth in the Conference Premier and twice appearing at Wembley, winning promotion via the play-offs. Mills - a teammate of current Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill during Nottingham Forest's famous European Cup defence under Brian Clough in 1980 - led his side to the 2012 FA Trophy in May before returning to the national stadium to clinch the Playoff title and a return to the Football League courtesy of a 2-1 win over Luton Town.
Go tom the game and York will benefit from the revenue, mind it is a fair walk from the railway station. If you go by car the road into York goes near the ground
Sunderland fans will be able to buy tickets for the friendly at Hartlepool from 10am on Monday (July 2). Seats will be priced at £10 adults and £5 over-60s and under-16s and will be available from the Stadium of Light ticket office. The tickets will be on general sale immediately and there will be no priority period. Sunderland travel to Victoria Park to take on Neale Cooper's side on Friday 27th July (KO 7.30pm).
