They aren't tips from a trainer. It's Eddie's trade mark on here. Taking all his tips on here (and it's a large number) he has a level stake profit better then Pricewise and Timeform Jury. Having a bit of a blip at present. My fault for labelling him the NOT 606 Pricewise and giving him his own column until he withdrew it.

Here is a link to his record (proofed this forum) as at the date published

Hi Joe. Good luck today though maybe not so much with your selection in the 3.05 Western Aristocrat, as my only bet of day is Tazahum e/w at 10s in the same race! I rewatched the Goodwood race again and thought the way Tazahum stayed on was taking with the step up in trip today likely to suit and fire in the 4lbs weight swing he has today in his favour over W.A I've plumped for Stoute's second string today!

Like Hoof it myself, should have took the 3s but it's 5-2 now in very competitive race looks skinny. Requinto interests me but I've not backed anything in it yet.

    Good luck!

Good luck beef, 10s does look overpriced. I dont think the track or slow pace suited Western Aristocrat at Goodwood and although I thought it was dissappointing at the time, the form of the race looks pretty strong in hindsight. Interesting that Peslier has come over for just two mounts, the main one im assuming to be Western Aristocrat as the other is 25/1 in the first race.

Yes the jockey booking intrigued me also! Simply went on Tazahum on the price basis- there's not much between either of them. Classy little contest, the Goldolphin horse could be the one- I was on Neebras the last day so they should know what it takes to beat WA and Taz!

Unlucky today Joe, you weren't the only one who backed Hoof It, I decided to have a crack too when I saw 3-1! Needs further, was outpaced early doors... Tazahum made mean each way return at 10s but tempered slightly that it was Green Destiny who deprived a real nice winner considering I'd lumped on that horse at Goodwood and he ran like a drain that day <laugh>

York is certainly not for the punters this year!

Hoof it doesn't need further his just not in that class, how a horse that has only won handicaps could be 3-1 and on a mark off 119 for a group 1 was ridiculous in the first place

The price was short enough but its because the sprint division is so weak, the fact that Margot Did won the race and the fact that different horses win every Group 1 sprint shows that. The gap between top handicaps and Group 1s in that divison is not much. The 106 rated Hamish McGonagall running second tells you everything. Hoof It earned his rating by winning a top handicap carrying 10 stone off a mark of 111 in a fashion I have never seen before in such a race with that kind of weight. His defeat yesterday had nothing to with class, and everything to with the slow start, half snatched up early in a race where you need everything to go right. Hoof It was effectively beat after 1 furlong and he ran well away from the action given the circumstances.

I disagree completely, he does need further and we are yet to find out if he is in that sort of class. He has only won handicaps but he won the ever competitive Stewards Cup carrying top weight and did it in a fashion that made him look Group class. The price wasn't ridiculous, it was short enough because of the trip issues, but it certainly wasn't ridiculous.

As for his handicap mark, what do you expect when he has won the Stewards Cup off top weight?

I agree with Joe. The race was lost from the start. He wouldn't have won from there if it had been 6f. He is undoubtedly better over 6f but he has run a fast 5f and the confidence of Fallon and the trainer before the race was a pretty good indication that 5f was not the problem. It was a pretty fast time and you can't give that much ground away in a fast run 5f sprint. If he had got off to a decent start it might have been a totally different conversation.

I think a lot of people would have appreciated that advice before the off.

There is not a massive gap between the G1 sprints and class 2 handicap sprints. For instance the time of this years Wokingham was faster than the Golden Jubilee on the same day. Hoof It won the Stewards Cup impressively of a recod high handicap mark, he is a good sprinter, yesterday's conditions just didnt suit. He couldnt quicken like he has been doing on the tacky ground:biggrin:

I know this is all about opinion BUT results speak for themselves.

Hoof It without doubt is an extremely classy animal, you cannot win a race of the Stewards quality carrying 10 stone with such consumate ease without being a Group horse in the making!

I for one firmly believe the horse is far better over 6f but as stated by Joe, his race was over immediately after the start LTO, still ran a good race but in these top sprints you have to have luck in running and also everything to drop just right, this quite clearly did not happen!

Next season we will see the real Hoof It and i for one believe he will climb right to the top <ok>
