While I'm obviously pleased with 3 points today, I'm not jumping the gun and saying that we have clicked as a team and all problems are solved.

Just wanted to raise something that comes up now and again. Why is Harry so anti playing youth players? Barely a sniff in recent years from any home-grown talent. What's the point in an academy etc? The likelihood of unearthing a gem like Sterling is going to be miniscule if they never get first team game experience.

Aarons for Newcastle today has rode the bench for two years, gets a go out and scores one and sets up another. I'm sure Pardew has options other than him in that position too.

Surely it's worth a gamble, if it's really a gamble, to sacrifice SWP or Henry or Dunne/Hill's spot on the bench in aid of some experience for the likes of Ehmer, Harriman etc.

Sorry for the slightly negative tone of this post while people are enjoying the win today......just something I wanted to get off my chest.

Enjoy your Sunday. ....always better when we have won :)

Such a necessity. I don't think I can remember a player working their way out of the academy and playing in the first team. Ray Jones? If so, that's shocking.

Let's be fair, it's only in the last couple of years we've had a decent youth system. But that's not to say there is anyone that is good enough yet, we don't get to see much of them, so surely have to go by rednapp's choice.

Players get their chances when they are good enough, but they have to be pretty exceptional for a youth team player to make it in the prem and I can't see we have any of those coming through the youth system. The last was sterling, it's just unfortunate it happened a few years too early. If he was coming through now you know he'd get a chance cause he was talked about the whole time.

The fact we're in the Premier League now will make it harder still but if we've any that are good enough they'll get there eventually...

A lot of our younger players have been around for quite a while now some since before Harry arrived. I think its time to admit however much we want them to break through that maybe they just aren't good enough. That said Frankie Sutherland looks a good player so who knows.

Loneranger, you make a comment about the fact that a player has to be exceptional to make it out of the youth team and into the prem.......but don't ALL players come from a youth team/academy somewhere? Maybe with the exception of handful like Charlie Austin and Rickie Lambert etc who make it the hard way
