Id welcome him to be honest! If van der sar came to us youd say he was too old but its not like goalkeepers need to be that fit theyre not running around!
Was never that convinced by him at Liverpool,good shot-stopper but bit error prone & on the short side. Need a commanding presence between the sticks to organise the defence more than Kasper did.
Van de Saar is still a class act. Not sure even though he played at the highest level that Dudek was ever that awesome. Given his age, not sure he'd be worth a punt, or that we could afford him. No, let's have someone with plenty of experience who can marshall the defence for 2 to 3 yrs at least.
No way. Even at his best he was still a liability. What about McGregor at Sunderland? He's slipped way down the pecking order it seems...
he wont leave Spain, his family are settled. Still IMO would be a better keeper than Kasper for a season but not an ideal replacement
Should have kept kasper, s***e management as per. Wat was wrong with the young lad, 1.5 is a stupid amount to sell for,. he'll be worth 6/7/8 wen he's older
Somma he didnt do a bad job, made quite a few high profile clangers but every mistake goalkeepers make are always highlighted. I think the problem was his ego on & off the field & if that was the case then I dont blame Grayson letting him go. Kind of makes sense as well, because it was a bizarre move getting rid of both our no 1 & no 2 keeper!
Couple of points, it was nearer a £1m He'll never ever be worth 6/7 m EVER. And before people say keepers get better with age, they dont any more, keepers get to their peak alot earlier than they did 25 years ago. Kasper was a good keeper, don't think he was the reason we conceded aload of goals. Who we get in worries me more. Think this blackpool keeper could start No 1 And if he does its a disgrace
Thing is Van Der Sar has been pretty lucky. Hes only ever been tested properly when at fulham. Teams like AJAX/JUVENTUS/MAN U have all had class acts at the back within his time! Not saying hes a bad keeper at all, but a good goalkeeper is someone who can make good decisions in tense situations and unfortunatly for us weve not a had class keeper since Nidge Martyn.

The only keeper we will get, will either be a loan (till Christmas) then probably extended for the season or a player who is free.
