As I couldn;t go yesterday I wonder if some kind sole could give am insight into how each player performed I expect our new signing Arydan will replace Mowatt at Birmingham and I was not impressed with the defending when Beckford should have scored so Cooper for Pearce for me .Listening to Popepy looks like we have struck gold with young Cook
Anyway good morning to you all and look forward to 2 signings by tomorrow
I watched football league show and was surprised to hear that Dutort had not signed for Wigan as his chairman said they had not agreed terms could we be in for him I wonder

    Morning Mike.

    Our defence still scares me...

Hey Mike, trust all is well with you bud ... here's an excellent summation from Whitejock, Cellino should hire this closet sassenach today!!

"Today's match was the first for a while where I was comfortable watching the team. lots of green shoots of recovery, but there's still a long way to go."

Silvestri - may have been man of the match, but some of his handling is questionable. Doesn't seem to be able to catch/smother the ball. Distribution far better & getting some length into his kicking at last.

Wooton - had a great game. Solid, willing worker & great engine. Still believe that he has a future with us. Am believing more & more that Pearce has been the problem rather than the answer for some time now. Perhaps Lees, Zaliukas, Wooton etc. weren't the problem - they just had the misfortune to be playing with Pearce.

Bellusci - I'm feeling man love here. Solid & dependable CB, & ultra cool with it. Never gets pressured. Bit of theatrics to entertain us today, apparently being shot by the opposition on a couple of occasions. Wonder if this is going to be a feature?

Pearce - Fairly solid today, but has his moments. Is partial to the odd wild tackle on the edge of the box, and I've noticed that he seems to think he's playing basketball when someone runs at him in the box - arms outstreched for some crazy reason or other. A penalty waiting to happen.

Warnock - had his best game of the season until he was injured. Put his hands up after the game to the goal 'shot' being a cross. Pace is definitely not there, but like Teddy Sherringham, he can think a yard ahead of most. Charlie Taylor came on for him with no disruption of service.

Mowatt - I was a big critic of Mowatt last season, mainly about his fitness. He's come back 1 or 2 stones lighter this season, and boy, he is hungry! Did die a bit towards the end, but excellent engine & desire - especially in his first game of the season. His exclusion must be another major criticism of the Cock.

Bianchi - imperious. Gary McAllister reborn. Covers acres, both on and off the ball. Passing delightful. Going to be a great favourite of ours, I think.

Cook - my man of the match. Hope Austin & Murphy were watching the 17yo & learning. Another hero in the making.

Sloth - what a find. Worked his socks off (where have I heard that before?). Heavily involved at all times. Seems to be the business. Replaced towards the end by Benedicic. Would love to say he was fantastic. Can't. Still waiting for his fist tackle. Wasn't really firing on all cylinders by the looks. May be a low starter we'll have to wait on.

Antenucci - very intelligent striker. Great off the ball work to present options & make space. Great engine, closed down as part of a pack at every opportunity. Always dangerous.

Sharp - Same as Antenucci. Still think they've got a bit of work to do on their understanding to be an outstanding partnership.

My main concern is replacing McCormack.

Doukara is our leading scorer with two goals after five games.

Sure, our forwards are getting next to no service, but with the new players we have, when they do finally get the service they deserve, will they be good enough to regularly find the net?

Our best forward is probably Sharp, and sure, he was in the right place at the right time for the rebound at the Boro game, but we need forwards who can create a goal from not a lot...

I am so pleased that Austin was injured yesterday.

I cannot understand why (apparantly) he has such a cult following?

With Mowatt and Cook coming good, and Sloth looking no slouch, who will make way for Adyran?

Montenegro signs tomorrow, sure, he's a winger, but then we've got Bianci, Dawson, Austin, Benedicic and Murphy when he comes back from suspension.

Are we going to play with a five man midfield?

I would like to think Austin has no future now at Elland Road, simply not good enough. Never has been, never will be. Maybe we can ship him out by 11pm tomorrow

I was hoping to lose a lot of those players by midnight Monday. This will mean we don't have to worry about our next coach playing them instead of new signings or our kids. That was the mistake Hock made <ok>
