Sorry guys and Beth......just can't find the energy or interest to do a full match report. Suffice to say.............crap atmosphere/crap game/crap performance/crap result. Player ratings and comments: Green - 6 - Possibly could have saved from Couch, but it was almost point blank range. Nearly dropped a classic Green clanger! Bosingwa - 6 - Played quite well, but produced little end result when he got forward. Looks disinterested and can't wait to get off at the end. Hill - 3 - At fault for both goals and just not good enough at this level. I like Clint, but his limitations have been cruelly exposed. Samba - 4 - Clumsy, clod-hopping performance again. Never looks like winning a header in the opposition box and doesn't win that many in ours. What a massive let down he's been! Ben Haim - 5 - Simply isn't a left back. Should never have been played there. Gave us nothing going forward on that side. Mbia - 6 - Solid enough and did cut out all the play acting. Derry - 5 - Honest performance, but often off the pace. Why not Jenas in there? Townsend - 7 - Very lively first half until he got injured. Very direct, but little end product in this game. Taarabt - 6 - Unlucky with a superb shot early on and went close with a good free kick. Tried too hard to influence things, but we simply stopped getting forward once he went off injured. Hoilett - 2 - Simply awful. Crowd on his back doesn't help, but I wonder whether last season was a huge one off? Remy - 6 - Always looked a threat and it was a shame that none of his chances fell onto his right foot. Faded in the second half when all our creativity left with Taarabt and (earlier) Townsend. Subs: Bothroyd - 6 - Did well when he came on. Looked sharp and keen and won a lot of headers. Another mistake from Harry not using him more with Zamora being so crocked. Mackie - 4 - Looked what he is.................not very good. In conclusion: That's that then! Harry has completely under whelmed me since he arrived. What was he doing playing Ben Haim at left back when we had a superb defender in Onuoha on the bench? Play Bsingwa at left back with Ned at right back. He's also very good in the air. Why did he not select Jenas, the one player who can keep the ball for us? We didn't need two wreckers in the centre against such limited opposition. They watched the ball going over their heads most of the time! Sorry Harry.........you've failed to impress me old china! Time to keep a low profile and see what the summer brings I guess. Hope to Christ we stuff the Aussies in the Ashes!! Please, please bring on the cricket!! Thoughts? (If you can be arsed!!)
It was dreadful, summed up by Ben Haim taking a throw in and actually throwing the ball back out. I hope the investors don't walk away after the debacle of the last two years, we are Luton if they do.
Cheers Col. I thought the atmosphere was ok first 10 mins and if Adel's shot had gone in (missed by 30cm or less) who knows? Water under the bridge and spilt milk - in colossal amounts. Onwards to next season to see what that brings.
Agree with most of that, especially about Samba. The way he let Jerome run into the box unchecked and the time and space he allowed him on the ball before easily feeding Crouch for a simple tap in was criminal. Shambolic defending from both Samba and Hill. But I can't agree about your rambling about Jenas and blaming Harry for not playing him. He wasn't even on the bench, clearly injured or ill. He would of been first on the team sheet along Townsend if not.
Surely Jenas was injured Col! He wouldn'r have left him out of the whole squad otherwise, would he! Traore and Favio too I think. I didn't think we were too bad while Townsend and Adel were there, except open at the back. The failure to score and those 2 injuries, and their goal took everything out of us and we ended up a mess.
On the money Colin ... agree now re Hill and a massive relief i can let it out ... I watched the game at home but nearly went and lucky i didn't! At the moment we can all say ... Bollocks QPR ... I fear the autopsy will have deep cuts and I don't actually care at the moment what happens to the club i love
Good report Col spot on from what I made from a crap video link. I couldn't face MotD at anytime so haven't really seen it. Ben Haim looked the main problem to me....exposing everyone else. Hoillet had the same effect imho. I love Derry and Hill so much, I treasure them as true and decent players, but with all the pressure being put on them to over perform in a failing team, their lack of real premiership skill is being exposed Four players out of 11 playing so off the pace....and the cards come tumbling down and everyone elses game then suffers
Hardly rambling mate. I thought all the reports before the game said that we had no new injury worries? I hope Jenas was left out due to injury, otherwise it was a another tactical error. I haven't heard what's happened to Fabio, although someone at the ground said that they thought he'd returned to Man Utd injured?
I quite like Ben haim actually.........but he's never a left back and should never have been played there with Onuoha sat on the bench!
Poor choice of words mate, sorry. He must be injured as he is one of only a few that Harry trust. Just another case in a long line of poor communication from the club. Or maybe it was done on purpose to not give awa info to Stoke? But I don't think it's down to poor tactics. Agree about Ben Haim, doesn't look bad and can do a job in the Championship. Just not at left back.
Thanks Col Death by a thousand cuts eh? Even though I had prepared myself for relegation months ago, I'm getting more and more angry and frustrated by the week. Like many on here, I've asked myself a thousand times "where did it all go wrong". The problem is I just can't seem to settle on any particular reason. What's happened to our club over the last three years in many ways defies logic. Loads of s**te in our boardroom. An overage team creating a miracle. Wealthy owners coming in and investing heavily in a top class management team and buying players many of whom were deemed out of our class. An under performing over paid squad who can't get out of the bottom three. Another change of management, this time to a manager that many considered should have been the English national manager and another 20 million spent on players. Yet one thing remained consistent. Our position in the bottom three. While stats can lie, the pts column in the Prem table doesn't. I think that we have upgraded our managers in the last two years to an amazing standard. No doubt MH had more top flight experience than NW and Harry is seen by many as a top coach. They couldn't all have got it so horribly wrong. Personally, I think we need to lay off our managers. They don't go out to lose matches deliberately. What's the common denominator? Our players. They have been shocking. SB wrote a great piece about the dynamics of people and a team. This group have just not clicked and are not capable of playing as a team. There's no soul there. Too many of these players are on the downward slope of their careers and have little or no determination or desire to put in any more effort than is absolutely necessary. I have no idea where to go from here. We don't need another huge turnaround in players and yet this group just doesn't work. Three managers have failed to get them working, why would we think that keeping this squad together would suddenly work next season. No team, no soul, no desire and not enough energy for me. Who ever we keep has to be ready and willing for the difficult fight ahead in the Champ, yet must be decent enough to play in the Prem so we don't overhaul yet AGAIN in two years time. Watching this lot play for the last 18 months, it's very difficult to say who's worth keeping. A huge part of me wants to keep Harry but I have this dreaded feeling that like Hughes, he will want to buy several of his old players and that will leave us with a squad that's ageing and needing an overhaul yet again. I'd really prefer to keep a core of 7or 8 players and add several young hungry players who aren't yet millionaires and have something to prove. I'd gladly wait a couple of years and have a team that we can be proud of and will go out and fight for our jersey. No more mercenaries please. I was going to go over for a match in the coming weeks but I'm embarrassed to say that I'm not going to waste money on that team. Of prefer to wait until next year and go when several if these wa•kers are gone.
Totally agree Col and the rest of you. 'Fraid to say we left with loads of other 'loyal supporters' when the penalty went in and our obvious fate was confirmed. Second time in me life I've done that, both this season. The other was Saints at home after they'd got their third. Support what? Beyond paying for tickets and making the effort to go see if a dead man can be resuscitated, can't keep supporting men determined to do nowt but choke. Who's got less pride in our club, me or them out there in a position to do something about our ongoing ridicule and impending demise? Yesterday left me feeling ashamed more than ever before. Sure I've seen us relegated before, six times I think, but never like this. Never with funds, supposed quality yet without so much as a fight. Yuk. Don't bear thinking about. Haven't even bothered to see if 0-2 was the final score. Way beyond caring atm. Can't wait for the time (this year, next year, sometime, never) when the Rs finally reconstitute and don't roll over at the first sight of adverse. MKD was the writing on the wall writ large. How that failed to sit this lot up and sort themselves out is frankly beyond me.
Thanks for the report Col. It is up to your usual standards. I hope the Adel knockers watched closely how we played after he went off. Without him, we have very, very little. With him, we looked like it was only a matter of time before we scored. I am dreading next season without him. What about Samba's defending for the first goal. It was scored right in front of us. I thought he should have blocked the cross coming in. Flyer, you sit right there as well. What did you think of Samba for the first goal? Thanks again Col.
Spot on regarding Samba on the first goal Fing. I thought he looked so slow and from where i sit, most had him at fault. First time in years i left with 15 mins left 'to beat the traffic' and 'cos i could see we weren't gonna score in a million years.
Start with twenty. Double it. Times by five. Divide by two. Halve it. Take away fifty. Your answer should leave you with the amount of ****s I can be bothered to give about this Rangers side for the rest of this season. Cheers for your post though Col.
Friggin' loyal supporter you! Had you down as a better man than me. Funny thing about leaving early is we didn't even get to beat the traffic. Got caught behind a lorry having trouble negotiating Godolphin Road and still caught up on Uxbridge Road!
