I loved the He came from sunny Spain To play at White Hart Lane Soldado oh-aye-oh Soldado oh-aye-oh But what was the chant involving Gareth Bale?, I'm not even sure it wasn't a taunt from Palace fans, it was first half in the first quarter of an hour, I couldn't make it out, does anyone know?
Not so, I didn't hear any chants or songs about Bale from us lot. Then again, I didn't hear palace singing about him, probably as we were singing non stop for the first 30 minutes. A couple of songs early that were sung repeatedly were about Ginola & Berti. Not sure why they were sung but joined in anyway!
Thanks for replying J8, I knew you get to some away games especially the local ones, so I'd hoped you'd see this...now I wish you hadn't! I definetly heard his name though, it was a short chant, only repeated twice in succession I think, and then I never heard it again. I thought it might be a 'we want you to stay' chant but I just couldn't make it out. It was very early in the game.
There was a good following yesterday, sold out to season ticket holders with over 290 loyalty points. Spurcat was saying that the demand for this game was the highest in four years. To be fair, we do have a good away following and I'd imagine that most away games will sell out before reaching general sale.
I was told (by my Palace supporting brother) that the Spurs fans were quiet. He also went to the Gooners game and said fights were breaking out amungst Arsenal fans! Told him he should go to more games.
I can't say that this surprises me. It's already starting to get very messy over on the Gooners' board, on this forum. If those fans were to be gathered together in, say, a village hall, I can see it erupting in violence without too much provocation. PESKIE would take quite a kicking, I bet.
have you been saving any particular pearls from your visits HIAG? I really don't want to go over there and read myself.
I was amongst the Palace supporters in the Sainsbury end near the Spurs away support. They seemed pretty loud to me. Must add the Palace fans around me were a fine bunch of true gents.
I've never met a Palace fan I didn't like. I grew up in Croydon, and there are many dislikeable ppl there....just not Palace fans. I really hope they have a good season. Not necasarily staying up, but with some good results along the way and keeping a team to bounce straight back up.
Haha, yeh thats because the have their own forum. They have a radical fan base called the B block n they all post on their own site. Always enjoy sitting in that section (nearest the away fans in the Holmesdale (big) stand) though they don't like Alan Mullary (sp?) all that much.
It was indeed the Palace fans singing about Gareth Bale. I always think our away support is fantastic, but I must confess the Palace lot were bloody loud yesterday and ours were not as vocal as usual for some reason. "Stand up if you hate Arsenal" is frankly very tedious now and please don't start me off on that daft "I love Steffen Freund" nonsense.
I don't hate him Spurf, it's that I don't think he is up to the job he has been given. Very difficult to hate him as he is actually a very nice bloke.
Couldn't agree more. Who cares about the gooners, let's sing about Spurs. Some fans act as though supporting the rivalry is more important than supporting the club.
