Much ado about nothing! The opening 10 mins was really good, Ivan bombing down the right, Torres looking lively...a lovely flick to assist the goal as well. Newcastle stepped up and we stepped back...and went to sleep after what should have been a match winning goal from Alex. McEachran looked good, some very nice defence splitting balls being played, very composed as well esp as a lot of the play was coming through him, although i would prefer to see him in a more advanced role, not so deep. Ancellotti was right to sub him, as he was starting to get ragged in the tackle, so it would seem that fitness may be an issue for him at this stage, but a pre-season building him up should do the trick. Ramires looked good as well, very solid performance until he lost his beans with Gutierrez! Some questions to be asked of the current squad over the break, and whilst wholesale changes may not be recommended, I have reservations about the contributions of some of the key players this season. This may well be down to a lack of inspiration from the manager, internal turmoil at the club, or it may be that they need to be used differently ie less often... We have Sturridge to come back who has hit eight goals in 11 starts for Bolton, along with a few other reserve players who have been earmarked to be stars, so let's see what happens, but we'll need to improve on this season in a big way.
thought the toon deserved something from the game to be honest... their fans were immense and definitely the loudest to come to Stamford Bridge this season...
