Why do people point out that the transfer window has not opened yet? I think 99% of us know that. Whether its open or not, signings can be made. Everyone can see where Arsenal need to strengthen. AW should have already identified the players he wants and gone all out to get them BEFORE the window opens. Manchester United identified the players they want and have already captured two of them. Two potentially class players may i add. Surely getting them in as soon as possible, available for day 1 of training is better then leaving it until August. The fact is Arsenal are very slow and stubborn when buying players and have been for a long while now.

The problem is we try so hard to pay as little as possible for players dragging out negotiations for weeks only for another club to snatch the players at the last moment with a better offer. Sometimes its worth paying that little extra, to secure the player your club needs rather then paying less for a player who doesn't improve on your weaknesses. For example hypothetically we offer 8mil for Samba but Blackburn want 10mil. We lose out and go and buy a player like squilacci.

Don't be surprised if you see Samba or Cahill at Tottenham next season and Dann at Liverpool. Three players who bring something we need to the club and not something we already have.

After the season we just had, where all our weaknesses were more obvious then ever, apart from the newly promoted clubs, we should be the most active club in the transfer market in the league.

The transfer window is academic at this point anyway, everyone's on holiday and the squads won't meet up again until after the transfer window has been opened.

actually clubs in the same league can make transfers from the end of the season - its the international transfer window that does not open yet...

also those players whoses contracts have run out can agree to sign for new teams but can not actually sign until the 1st of july :)

Is the transfer window like those translucent transfers that you used to get in cereal packets? You know - the ones you used a pencil to rub off onto a printed scene on the back of your Cornflakes box

To Teams like Man U and Tottenham it's a transfer window. To Chelsea and Real Madrid it's a giant Transfer Saloon Style door with loose hinges. However, to arsenal it's a Transfer air vent...

I get the feeling that we are waiting for the likes of Denilson, Bendtner and Clichy to move on, and Nasri and Cescs future to be sorted before we start spending money.
The problem is that teams who would be interested in Deni and NB will probably want to sell a couple of their players first, before they sign anyone.
Also teams want to line up replacements before selling their players.
It is also beneficial for selling teams to drag transfers out, so interest increases causing the selling price to increase.
Players also like to see all options available to them, so they too like to drag transfers out a bit.

Yes Man Utd have signed a couple of players. Phil Jones, alledgedly Arsenal forced a quick transfer by matching the release clause in Jones's contract, Blackburn had little bargaining power and sadly Jones had his heart set on Old Trafford, making a relatively easy transfer.
Ashley Young, in the last year of his contract and seemingly determined to sign for United. Again, Villa had little bargaining power and thus the move happened quickly.

May be hard to admit, but Manchester United has a greater pulling power than most teams, similar to Barcelona I guess, wherein once they show interest in a player it is hard for that players team to slow down proceedings. Going to Man Utd is pretty much the ultimate move for many players, especially British ones. Sadly we do not have the same attraction, nor the same money to throw about.

Patience is key, lets wait until mid-July when pre-season starts, before panicking.
