Yeovil are making early moves to get Dan Burn back on a long term loan. "Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson has confirmed that he will try to make a move to bring Fulham defender Dan Burn back to Huish Park. The 21 year old gradually grew into one of the club's key personnel after arriving on a Youth Loan basis back in September 2012 from Craven Cottage. By the end of the season, the Blyth-born player had clocked up 41 appearances, along with three goals which included one at Wembley Stadium in the League One Play-Off Final, and went home with the club's Young Player of the Season award. As a player whose performances improved over the course of the 2012-13 season, Johnson is keen to bring him back to the club. At present Fulham want him to report for their pre-season training but speaking to Sky Sports, Johnson explains that he is getting a positive reaction to early enquiries: "Quite rightly they (Fulham) are saying they need everyone to come back for pre-season to work with them. We'd like to get things done early but we are holding to Fulham as they pull all the strings. What I do know is that Danny Burn would be very comfortable with coming back to us, that is the main thing. We are sure that his agents and his representatives do as well so with a bit of luck and a bit of negotiation hopefully we will get him back." As has been Gary's general way of thinking, he does not expect to rely too heavily on the loan market during the 2013-14 season, if he can help it. Apart from Burn, he said that his priority would be towards making permanent signings: "You try to get in the permanent ones first. Any loan I get will be a long-term loan anyway." I'm still hoping that Burn will get games for the first team with us this season, but if Jol doesn't think he's going to be used then a loan to Yeovil makes sense for everyone. Better for him to go back to somewhere where he's established than try a different championship team. As long as we get a recall clause in, it's good for all concerned.
I called this months ago. Jol has to assess whether Burn is going to get game time in our first team this season. If not, he is all but guaranteed first team football with Yeovil in the Championship.
