(some info from wiki) Yeovil FC were formed in 1890 and, although they only reached the Football League in 2003, they were long established as the most successful non-league ‘Giant Killing’ team in FA Cup history. Possibly their greatest feat in the cup was in 1949 when they knocked out First Division [Premier League] Sunderland in the Fourth Round, going on to play Manchester United in front of 81,000 at Maine Road. Their last League scalp as a non-league side was Div 2 [League One] side Cheltenham Town in the First Round on 16 November 2002. They were winners of the Southern League three times and runners up twice. They applied for election to the league on numerous occasions, coming within three votes of ousting Workington in 1976. In 1979 they were founder members of the new ‘Football Conference’. They were relegated in 1985 but returned after three seasons. Here they stayed until 2003, when they won promotion to the Football League after winning the Conference in emphatic style; finishing 17 points clear at the top. Two years later they were championsof League Two and this season, being their 10th in the league, is their 8th in League One. Match Odds (at Skybet) Yeovil – 11/10 Pompey – 5/2 Draw – 23/10 Mystic Devo Yeovil have lost five in a row since their JPT win at Bristol Rovers on 4th September. Pompey chalked up their first home league win on Saturday, with a gutsy performance against S****horpe. The Glovers will be looking to up their game and stop the rot in this, the first competitive match between the two sides. Confidence will be high in the Pompey squad as they go looking for back to back victories. So far this season Pompey have lost the games in which Mystic Devo has foreseen a win, but I’m going to risk it Devo reckons: Yeovil 1-2 Pompey
Well it looks like it will be 2 wounded animals slugging it out tonight............... so I'm going for 3-1 Pompey. Hedging my bets though, could be a 1-1 draw. Hhhmmmm - better be on the safe side and go for 2-1 Pompey. Indecisive ? Moi?
Hmmm, 4-1 Pompey .. with a Wes Thomas hat-trick, just to annoy the Cherries! (not that I have anything against them). You head it here first!
Who's bright idea is it to stick Express FM's Pompey commentary team in amoungst the opposition fans?
POMPEYY VICTORYYY! D Back to back wins for the Pompey lads- and even with our likely 10 point deduction, we're in positive points now!
Congrats on another good win, looks like Appy is working some magic and you are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Just need to get things sorted off of the pitch now.
Two goals in two matches for Gabor - now that is what I call a good signing by MA - a goal scoring centre back
Excellent result for you and Yeovil are falling like a stone with no rope to pull them back from the brink.
