Anyone travelling by train to the Yeovil game should be advised of engineering work in the Southampton area on Saturday. Buses replace trains between Bournemouth and Southampton Central, Bournemouth and Southampton Airport Parkway, Brockenhurst and Southampton Central, Romsey and Southampton Central. Please give yourself plenty of time to get to the match if travelling by train from stations in the affected areas.
Do they look up our fixtures when they arrange these works...almost every time. Are we not the centre of the Universe
Being the centre of the Universe, Southampton's traffic problems are the stuff of legend. It's a classic geography scenario. A city with a river on its boundary, but this city if bisected by another river, and then there is the coast just down the road. The place just gets clogged and more clogged with traffic, because what few direct roads there are from all points are woefully inadequate, and realistically, there's little that can be done about them. Put some roadworks in there and everyone might as well stop and have a party. Tbf though, there are plans for a railway station to be built for Ocean Village [I pointed this out some months ago], and land has been set aside next to the old South Western House. It would serve St Mary's pretty well, and there might even be a case for opening a Halt immediately next to the stadium. All this doesn't help people getting to the Yeovil game in the slightest [sorry], but it's nice to know why it takes forever, and that it might not always be the case,
