Available on the internet are two sets of stats. Firstly the cards accumulated by clubs. This indicates which teams are the most disciplined and who do not continually foul. Secondly, the cards accumulated by all clubs who have played AGAINST the named club. What this indicates is perhaps not so readily apparent. In spite of the five cards for City players last night, we are still in the bottom three for League One. PNE are in the bottom six. PNE are just below mid table. The clubs who have had MOST cards for those playing against them are: Sheffield U Swindon Doncaster MK Dons Leyton Orient Port Vale The top four are all in the top eight of the current league placings. It could indicate that the teams playing against them are making more fouls because the top four are so good that the only way to stop them is to foul. OR it could indicate that these top four are expert at play acting and deliberate cheating to get opponents carded. City are also in the bottom regions of this table. Your opinions please. http://www.football-lineups.com/tourn/League_One_2014-2015/Stats/Discipline/
All I can say on this subject is that there have been 3 "anti-football" teams to visit the Gate so far this season - Bradford, Crawley and Preston In terms of your question - in theory the top teams have the ball more and are therefore fouled more
