Rovers have parted company with fitness coach Mark Hammond and video analyst Jonathan Robinson in order to cut costs in the aftermath of relegation, and Clarke is set to fill the void by delegating extra responsibilities elsewhere within his streamlined backroom team.

    Clarke said:
"There has had to be cuts on the staff front because of the league we now find ourselves in. I'm a pretty hands-on manager and between Marcus Stewart (assistant manager) and Stuart Naylor (goalkeeper coach) we'll be planning the fitness side of things. I designed and implemented the pre-season programmes at Salisbury over three years and my teams were always praised over how fit and strong they were. We'd also like to bring Steve Yates into the fold and get him involved a little bit more. He's a Bristol Rovers legend and is someone with experience of playing in the Premier League. It would be silly not to try to tap into that sort of experience when it is there and available to us. When you drop down to the Conference it becomes a case of everybody having to shoulder that bit more responsibility by taking on additional jobs."

    Take from the Post.

I didnt realise that Stewart has become our assistant manager - although that does make sense.

Makes sense to have Yates play more of a role plus it saves time looking for somebody else and good to have Stewart as assistant

And with Stewart and Yates connections as well as Clarkes lower league contacts all of a sudden things look like seriously improving and dare I say expectations too!

We got Naylor as goal keeping coach, Yates can be the defensive coach, Clarke himself was a midfielder so he can be a coach for the midfielders and then stewart can be the attacking coach :)
