Haven't seen a thread or post about this rumour. Apparently we're after 25-year old Evian (the club, not the water) striker Yannick Sagbo. The Daily Mail says we launched a £3.5m bid. Scored 6 in 35 during last Ligue 1 season. That's alright, but not more than that... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...r-joins-Hull-following-release-Newcastle.html
Crystal Palace and Hull City will battle for the signature of Evian Thonon Gaillard forward Yannick Sagbo, after news emerged the player is close to a £3 million transfer out of France. Sagbo, 25, was previously a target for Montpellier but the 2011-12 Ligue 1 champions appear to have now dropped their interest. SportsDirect News understands that will leave Palace and Hull to battle it out for his signature, with reports in France suggesting Evian are ready to cash in on a player whose contract expires at the end of next season. An Ivory Coast international, Sagbo scored six goals in 35 league appearances for Evian last year and can play either as a centre-forward or an attacking wide player. http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/pre...-palace-battle-it-out-for-ivorian-striker.php
...been a lot of interest in him previously, looks big and strong - decent header of the ball too. May get a bargain with him being in the last year of his contract.
His playing style reminds me a little of Folan, but he looks pretty good and he's strong in the air from what I've seen of him online.
If we are going to sign the kind of quality players we want and need, we'll always be a stepping stone. Buy quality young player, get a couple of good seasons out of him. He wants to move to a bigger club, we sell him on for a profit. Sounds perfect to me.
I agree to some extent but if he does well he'll be gone and if he doesn't he'll be a big burden because he won't be bringing effort or harmony to the club like your mcshanes or mcleans.
Bear in mind that Evian TG are pretty much our level in Ligue 1; they only just avoided relegation and would've finished 4th bottom had Ajaccio not been docked points. They average under 10,000 a game (maybe we're a bit better than that), so they're hardly a big club. I'd expect him to do better in a better team, but I'd expect a bit more for £3.5m.
Evian fans aren't his biggest fans and wouldn't mind seeing the back of him due to poor attitude and obviously lack of goalscoring return.
Very true. Hull City have been there and done that and worn out the video and T-shirt. Indeed. Danny Graham is a PL proven goal scorer for starters.
the one goal he did score was impossible to miss.. most of the guys in the snooker club would have potted it too..
