The Sunderland echo has an interview with him and he speaks well about the atmosphere at the match on Sunday. I don't have the skills to reproduce it on here but I'm sure someone will know how, well worth a read.
The club need to be on he ball with this lad and make him the centre of our team for the next 5 years ........ get him signed. “The derby was magnificent, it was the best match that I’ve ever played in. I was involved in the Milan derby last season between Inter and AC, which is rated as one of the biggest games in the world, but it didn't have the same atmosphere as this one. Sunday was simply extraordinary, magnificent. Everyone had told me what to expect, but the supporters were truly fantastic, and of course we scored three times in front of our home crowd. It was a pleasure to play in such a game."
Absolutely. Sadly I think he's above our station. He'll be headed to a top end club next season as he's showing his level with us. Signing of the season
Very good player, you need to get him tied down to a long term permanent contract, even if it's just to flip £10-15m on the lad. Might put a bit of belief back into Ellis Short that he's not just wasting money on players.
In my believe, the January window will make his mind up. If we can sign 2 good players it can make a big difference to his thinking ......... we already have some good players at the club so we're not far away.
A top player who should have gone on to be a CL winner in my opinion. Still no reason why he can't mind you. Spot on about the Derby though. Others seem very sterile by comparison.
There'll be a fee agreed. Still don't think we'll sign him. He's just way out of our league. If we do it will be a quick 15m profit as we'd be lucky to keep him more than two windows. Congerton has done so well two bring a player of this standard. Shame Short didn't give us the sort of budget to sign him permanently when we had a chance. Anybody still think he's a nutter because of a reserve game incident nobody even saw? I said he wasn't a dirty player. Like I said from the off, be more worried what he'll do off the pitch not on it.
What? You think Sundays result will bring about a surge of confidence that will propel us up the league, see us sneak 4th spot, and go on to win the Champions League next season?
Best player we've had in the engine room for as long as I can remember. Clearly troubled prior to coming here. Who knows? Maybe he settles and decides it's best for his career to be somewhere that offers him stability.
I had an interesting chat with the lad who knows Short while I was away working in Bejing. He thinks Big Sam is a bad move for us, Short apparently likes him and thinks going back "old school" (his words not mine) is the best way to get a bit of stability. He said staying in the premier league is imperative to Shorts plans (but did not go into details about them) and he will spend in Jan if Sam says we need to in order to stay up. I was very drunk when we had the conversation as the only way I can get this guy to talk about such things is to fill him with alcohol. I am away in Malaysia with them again next week so will try and get more info. What it tells me is if he can sign Mvilla he will as that's the type of player we need, both on the pitch and financially to make money from the transfer market.
Are you, therefore, insinuating that he will sooner, rather than later, push a move to a bigger club (is there one????) and achieve Champions League glory at that club.......if so, HOW DARE YOU!!!!!
