Yann do attitude: Redknapp makes £6.5million move to bring M'vila to QPR

Harry Redknapp has made a £6.5m bid for one-time Arsenal and Spurs target Yann M'vila.

The offer for the Rennes midfielder has been rejected by his club who want more but QPR are expected to go back in.

M'vila is a powerful French international midfielder who has seen his standing in his homeland fall because of his behaviour off the field.

The 22-year-old, who has also had his problems with injuries, was banned last year by the French Football Federation until 2014 after going to a nightclub before an Under-21 game.

The controversies surrounding him have seen his price tag plummet and tempered the interest in him from Arsenal and Spurs.

But Redknapp has seen an opportunity to land a huge coup and Rangers are believed to be ready to make the player an offer to "address his concerns about relegation".

That is similar to the release clause that QPR supremo Tony Fernandes was willing to offer Demba Ba before the striker snubbed the Hoops for a move to Chelsea.

Rennes owner Federic Antonetti said yesterday: "I want to keep [M'vila], but if Rennes were to receive a suitable bid then he would leave.

"He is better and more mature, and will go. It is part of the club's policy that he will leave if he has to, only, who will replace him?"

Quality player, but surely he will cost far more than the £6.5m being banded about...more like £16.5m...Champions League club the likely destination if he is to leave imo

Dont know anything about this guy. If we get another midfielder would prefer someone like Parker who knows the PL and what is required for the fight.

I'm now thinking Mbia will play CB and that's why we're "looking" for a midfielder .Maybe Harry doesn't trust Faurlin and Diakite

It's been blindingly obvious that the club has needed a top quality centreback to compete at this level since NW got us up

Gabbidon and Onesize was never going to be good enough, and the only CB pairing with any solidity we've has since promotion is about to be destroyed. None of the possible combinations of Hill/Ferdinand/Onouha/BenHaim fill me with great confidence for the rest of the season

We have managed to buy entire teams of dubious quality enthusiasm and commitment since promotion, without addressing the essential cornerstone of any successfull team - the CB pairing. Until we stop p!ssing about with 'marquee' and 'asian market' signings and get at least one top quality CB we will continue to struggle
