I remember the posters of Severn Beach which were put up in the local railway stations. People in swimming costumes on yellow sand, with palm trees.... Never could find the beach in the outdoor swimming pool!!

We used to ride to Severn beach from Blaise on our Bikes about 1955,it was a great place but you used to bruise your feet on all of the boulders and bricks when you went paddling...

The best thing about SB is a train ride from north somerset which takes you all around the suburbs via Clifton, Lawrence Hill etc.
