I love shaving with a safety razor since I changed from the ultra expensive Gillette cartridges 3 years ago. I discovered a world of products that I would never have come across if I hadn't switched. Things like brushes, blades, razors, aftershaves, balms, astringents, storage solutions, soaps and creams. Here are my favourite soaps and creams and suggestions that might help you if you are looking for a Christmas present to give (or receive!) this year. Martin de Candre - Fougere (Fern) - The pick for luxury, lather, scent and performance. Pricey but lasts a very long time Haslinger Schafmilch Shaving Soap - Possibly the best value for quality and performance. Brilliant stuff XPEC Original Shaving Cream - Touted as the greatest shaving cream ever invented. Excellent cream, scent may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I love it. Catie’s Bubbles - Piment de Vie . The scent is one of my favorites and lathers up a storm. Mitchell’s Wool Fat Soap - A classic. One for anyone’s soap rotation. Almost a 'must try' for all serious shavers I Coloniali Mango Oil Shaving Cream Soap - This is my favorite scent. Oozes class. One lucky so and so who gets this in their xmas stocking Biotique Palmyra Shaving Cream - A brilliant cream, highly recommended. Not spectacular but an outstanding cream. Taylor of Old Bond Street - Sandalwood Shaving Cream. My first ever experience with safety razor shaving and has a classic barbers air about it. Can't go wrong with this.
I like Czech and Speake shaving kits their 88 range of shaving soaps smell great, I also like their Cuba aftershave, rum and cigars what not to like
I always used a brush and Taylor's sandalwood soap as it always lasted so much longer than foam/gel. I also changed to a safety razor when we had the original discussion on here - the Gillette shaving heads were just getting too expensive, and I prefer the shave now. Never really use an electric shavor, always need to have a wet shave afterwards anyway. I might get some of these things for me.
As a recent convert (thanks to the discussion on here earlier this year), I have added some of these to my letter to Santa. On a personal note, I use Arko soap, cheap as chips and smells like a Turkish barbers. SHOP.
I use Gentlemans home grown organic relish Easily available in my house as it's called a number 3 Tip steer clear of asparagus
As i spend 6 months of the year at sea I think I'll stick to a safety razor anything else and things will get messy quickly.
