Has told Real Madrid he will not be renewing his contract with them, he will have 12 months left in the summer, expected to leave then. Its believed he wants a return to England and some sources believe he wants to return to Liverpool

 

Would love it but need to see it to believe it.

Note: Anyone who wants to dicuss his age, just have a look at Pirlo. With the way Alonso takes care of his body, he still has many good years in the game. Juve are killing it now because they didn't look at the age of Pirlo and went with the quality. If this is true, we would be really daft to say no just because of age.

You won't find too many believing Xabi is too old but they will say it because of FSG's stance!

 

I'd have him back in a heartbeat Lucas and Alonso in the DM roles, Lucas can do all the running Alonso would manage a few seasons.

I know what you mean as Gerrard is adapting and playing well in there with Lucas but if he wants to come then lets just make it happen and worry about it later.

As long as his wages aren't so high that it wipes out our transfer budget I'd kidnap him myself. He'd definitely solve one of our short term problems while allowing the young midfielders time to develop beside him, Lucas & Gerrard? Brilliant.

But there are other issues so we'd need money left over to deal with those too!

Gerrard isn't quick as he used to be and isn't the type of player who's comfortable with the one touch tika taka play further up the field, if he's cramped for space, he'd struggle alot. He looks much more comfortable in a deeper role.

I'd like to see Alonso rotated with Gerrard and Lucas. And have someone like Eriksen further up. Alonso always helps out the in defense aswell and plays with alot of heart.

 

Sell Gerrard & Lucas (obviously sack Allen) and bring in Alonso, Mascherano and Eriksen (and Neymar of course)
