So our starting point is:
2 goalies
11 outfield
Plus hopefully JJ

Not sure if Bayo and Blooms will stay on as players. I'll be surprised if they aren't give at least one game in the Championship as recognition for their contributions. Blooms will hopefully stay on as something with his qualifications, if we can afford him. Again, if we can afford him, Bayo adds value to the club; but he might say he has achieved all he can for the club and say his goodbyes. Hope not

So what do we need?

Much as I love JJ (pure class) he is vulnerable to wingers with pace so I think we do need a speedy left back

We badly need a creative midfielder and a lethal striker to supplement what we have

Any views lads?

 

I think Pattison could be offered a another contract he was bought on as a sub in the play-offs, I agree with the Bayo & Blooms thinking, The Oxford goal came down JJ wing, would'nt be surprised to see McCarthy back again. At least we do have a team virtually signed up for next season, & we are not looking to sign a dozen players.

 

Bayo has been offered a player / coaching role

 

Good news then he can keep his other interests going as well

Sad to see Jombati go he's a popular guy, the rest is no surprise as they wouldn't cut it in The Championship i'm afraid. Pleased The Beast and JJ have signed new contracts and we always knew Blooms would get a coaching role at the club.

 

It's fantastic that everyone who played in our play offs (apart from our sole loanee) is staying for the next adventure for which they strived so hard to achieve. So pleased for them all

Can't make out if Blooms is also registered to play or whether he is purely a coach, or for how long
I also thought Bayo had been offered a player coach role but it seems he isn't contracted as a coach (too many coaches spoil the broth?)

Any firm news please so I can update the squad

We now have 2 goalies and 14 outfield players under contract

3 shrewd signings should be enough to see us through the season, speedy defender, creative mid fielder and lethal striker

 

What is also a good thing Gareth & the players are all used to playing a 46 game season with a small squad. It is one of the problems in being a footballer Ron in the lower divisons you get your team promoted then are dropped out. I would think 90% of the clubs would have dropped Bayo like a shot, you only have to look at Wimbledon & that was 4 seasons ago & I would think it is still coming back to haunt them

I just read that Jason McCarthy will be leaving Milwall with a few clubs looking at him, hopefully we can get him back here as he can play central defence as well as right back.

 

He likes playing for us, by his reaction when he scored on his first game back, which should help.

 

If we put a bid in there's a good chance he'll be with us next season as you say he loves our club.
