Unfortunately I missed the match due to watching the racing at Ascot (and wish I hadn't).

    Does anyone have any news?

Thanks Guy. Seems like a pretty good result. England International couldn't score against us. I've updated the Friendly Fixtures Index now.

No goals again but entertaining nonetheless. James Tunnicliffe and Joel Grant were excellent.

Good result. Obviously some goals would be good but thats not a worry just yet. Making ourselves hard to beat is important too.

Benyon was ruled out for 6 weeks so will miss the first 2 or 3 weeks of the season.

I agree with what has been said below, i would just like to give a mention to Stuart Lewis. It took me a while to get used to him replacing Lewis Montrose, seeing as he was one of my favourite players, and I didn't really rate Stuart for most of last season. However, he has been the rock of the team imo for the last two matches, defending well and creating chances, never seeming to misplace a pass. I reckon he was motm for both matches, yet his performances have rarely been mentioned.

I agree totally with you the blues. Stuart Lewis is our engine. Box to box every game, breaking up play, tackling anything that moves, and intelligent passing. Imo the best signing last season.

grant, for me, seems better up front than on the wing. he impressed me against west ham, not as much against crystal palace. he could definatly be a force for us next season

Spot on Wander. One of the things that hurt us last time round in LG 1 was that we looked spineless. We need to score goals, yes, but we need to be solid too. Id rather see us keeping West Ham and Palace goaless than see an entertaining 6-5! I know we cant tell too much from these games but its good if we are looking solid.

Joel Grant was superb, Stuart Beavon worked hard and Stuart Lewis played decently. I felt that Ben Harding had a shocker, Leon Johnson looked uncomfortable on the ball and Gareth Ainsworth wasn't affective.

I'm not too surprised, nor concerned, if Gareth wasn't effective in a friendly. I think he comes into his own in a match of importance where inspiration is needed. If anyone can inspire his team Gareth can.

Bit concerning that we are not scoring many, although we do have rendell to come back, donelly and lewis looked really sharp.

Rocky I think Grant may well now get the chance to show if he can oust Betsy as Betsy is missing the first three games to play for the mighty Seychelles!!
