Wycombe Wanderers await City in the Sky Bet Championship midweek encounter and it’s all set for a tight battle as the hosts fight to avoid relegation. Nigel Pearson’s men have drawn their last two matches and are seeking a first win in seven games as they look for positives of their own in the final four fixtures. The last of those draws was the 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday, courtesy of Tyreeq Bakinson’s late strike as the Robins battled back from a goal down with ten men. Henri Lansbury’s sending off for a handball call made it all the more challenging, but the FA has overturned the ban after City lodged an appeal. Evidence showed the ball did not strike Lansbury’s hand to deny a goalscoring opportunity, and the midfielder is available for selection to face Wycombe on Wednesday night. Gareth Ainsworth’s side were beaten by City when they met back in December and they’ve endured patchy form since, in their first season in the Championship. They find themselves rock bottom of the division with time running out if they are to survive the drop back to League One. However, there has been encouraging form of late and wins against Preston, Rotherham and Blackburn Rovers has offered them a glimmer of hope, albeit other teams’ results must go in their favour. They almost grabbed a win against high-flying Swansea last time out too as they led 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium, before the Swans battled back with two goals in the last ten minutes. Defender Joe Jacobson was key to those results over Preston and Blackburn with an assist in each, as well as a Man of the Match performance in a goalless draw with Coventry City. In fact, with four goals and five assists he has been the Chairboys’ most creative player this season and he leads the team chart for overall performance rating - 7.03, according to Opta. Chris Martin had nodded City into a deserved half-time lead with his third goal of the season in all competitions, before Wycombe fought back through a deflected shot from Garath McCleary. Dean Holden would have to manage the game with injuries forcing Zak Vyner and Callum O’Dowda off – both having impressive games – but his substitutes in Opi Edwards and Diédhiou linked up for the latter’s thunderbolt of a winner late in the game. That would be his third late winner of the campaign, following goals against Derby County and Blackburn Rovers, with his impact this time returning City to winning ways as the Robins go one point off the play-offs. please log in to view this image HEAD TO HEAD* Wycombe Wanderers v Bristol City Played: 21 City won: 10 (48%) Drew: 4 City lost: 7 Bristol City goals: 48 Wycombe Wanderers goals: 39 Bristol City top goalscorer: Famara Diédhiou and Nahki Wells (10) Wycombe Wanderers top goalscorers: Fred Onyedinma, Scott Kashket, Joe Jacobson, Uche Ikpeazu (4) Bristol City most assists: Antoine Semenyo (7) Wycombe Wanderers most assists: Joe Jacobson (5) Bristol City clean sheets: 12 Wycombe Wanderers clean sheets: 9 League positions Bristol City: 14th (51 points) Wycombe Wanderers: 24th (35 points) *All competitions unless stated please log in to view this image Dan Bentley denied Barry Bannan from the penalty spot after Lansbury's wrongful red card please log in to view this image Bakinson popped up with a later equaliser to secure the point Robins TV Wycombe versus City will be streamed live on Robins TV. The wonder strike aside, this game has been very low on quality. Wycombe are abysmal, but we have also been poor, easy to see why we haven't won for a while. Poor passing ability from too many tonight.

Why do we persist with Fammy. I hate watching us with him in the team, he puts the rest of the team under pressure as he cannot retain possession, he can’t pass. Why we don’t play one of the kids is beyond me. I never want to see Fammy in a City shirt again. Absolutely stealing a living right now!
Anyone who believes the football this season is better than what was being produced 18-24 months ago is seriously deluded. I don’t see any tactical or individual improvement under NP if I’m honest. The passing and ball retention is abysmal. This team tonight had no width, and not enough strength to play through the middle, and shock horror, we get out muscles for their goal. He constantly changes the side from game to game. Right now, we would be lucky if he wants to stay, and to be honest I wouldn’t be all that fussed if he didn’t. There is major work to be done pre-season and NP (if he stays) needs to find the elusive identity, as I see none since he took over.
