Apparently rumor has it, you have been given permission to speak to our manager Gary Waddock. I really hope this is not true, he is an excellent manager and gets on with our fans really well. Would be very disappointed to see him leave!
No offence, but I think I'd be disappointed too - don't want MM to leave! Oh - and there's the little matter of him being a former hatter
Ok thanks very much for that update. I'm aware of Waddock, but for better or worse I haven't been following his career. What terms is he on at the mo and what do you think Wycombe expect? I have looked up his managerial career - a 41% win ratio from 237 games sounds fair enough and has just got you chairboys promoted. I'm aware his playing career included a spell at Kenilworth Road and QPR which are hardly favourites. I don't know but it seems difficult to get excited about this. Sorry I can't be of more help.
When I suggested that Bassini appoint someone who has the potential to be less popular than himself, I meant it as a light-hearted comment.
Sky Bet has Ardley favourite at 7/2 - they are actually pretty close normally from what I remember of various managerial speculations; but then they also have Billy Davies at 6/1 and Di Matteo at 5/1 which seems ridiculous.
Morning H, I honestly don't want to go through this "tug of war" again for many a year, so whilst I can understand people wanting Malky to stay - how long before the next (2nd rate) club came along. Sorry to be a misery, but Watford seem to just be a nursery club for the next level. And that level isn't a decent level.
I don't see what the problem is if Di Matteo is in the frame. Provided that we are sensible with our money (and it was the club's fault that we weren't when Vialli took over), Roberto wouldn't be a bad choice at all. A new manager will be inheriting a team which is capable of playing football, has a good defensive foundation, but has very little hope of winning ugly. That very much plays to Di Matteo's strengths, and mitigates his weaknesses.
Once the brum and cardiff posts are filled, out-of-work managers will get restless and someone like hughton (but not RDM) has said he just wants to manage at the highest possible level, ASAP. Find a silver lining lads!
Hughton would be good , But if we could land a manager used to not having much to spend ,getting the best out of what he has , I say Tisdale could be your man , against that is we would have to pay compo! so I suppose that makes him unlikely! We need to get someone in quick ,yet who could carry on where MM left off with the kids!
Yes I understand you view as its a bit of a food chain out there! When you consider some of the names who've been put forward, Gary Waddock looks like a good bet. I hope this can be concluded quickly and amicably.
Apparently Fulham were pushing for an answer from Houghton for him to go there as Jol's no.2 again. If he fancies staying in management we might be a good shout for him but he has been touted for 'bigger' jobs so would he come?
