When they came to LR recently I thought to myself that these are the most cynical and insulting fans to come here in a long time. They seemed to jeer and insult QPR all game long and hardly sang about their own team. I really don't like that. It's petty and pathetic. I decided at the time that they're the worst fans I've witnessed for a while.
So sad that the team that gave us most notably Moore, Hurst, Peters and Brooking should be "blessed" with such intelligent support.
Their sense of 'entitlement' as witnessed last season is nauseating. I love it, just love it when they lose...
Deplorable. Along with Millwall, Leeds and Cardiff fans they are the worse. Actually you can put Hull in among them as well. Scumbags, the lot of them.
Out of order for sure. However, Spurs fans do bring a lot of this stuff on themselves. Hanging big flags with "Yid Army" printed on them is asking for trouble from these kinds of people.
They refer to themselves as that because of West Ham fans though Swords (as well as Chelsea & Arsenal amongst others). There's simply no excuse for that. West Ham fans are the worst easily but it's covered up by the media who portray them as loveable East End rogues
You'd want to be careful on here DL. Your own crowd are being accused of being the worst ever on another thread as we speak!
Totally agree with Swords on this one......(Shock horror ) Some good news articles recently saying exactly the same thing and how most of the fans who refer themselves as 'Yids' aren't Jewish and shouldn't have the right to supposedly 'claim back the name from the racists'
Spurs fans I know of (that hate Chelsea & Arsenal more than West Ham) have told me they are the worst at WHL by a distance. Everybody has different experiences, but West Ham are by a mile the worst at Stamford Bridge as well. Far worse than Arsenal or Spurs who to be fair aren't that bad.
Racist chanting before our match against West Ham was not confined to the odd knuckle dragger, it was taken up by a crowd of them walking down Loftus Road into Ellerslie. Same thuggish nonsense I've seen from Chelskum (along with throwing celery) Millwall and anti-English chants from Cardiff and to a lesser extent Swansea. The anti-Welsh chanting from even our own fans barely scrapes by as "humour" though, it's something I'd like to see stop as it just lowers us to the sub-human level of rival fans. West Ham might like to boast that they play on the floor and that they are meant to be some sort of football geniuses but they are just as likely to kick off as other well known hooligan supporters outside the ground. Pathetic.
Green Street isn't, and never was, in the East End, most of their supporters have moved out of London to Essex etc "White Flight" style.
What's with the celery throwing? Never understood that. Throwing fennel might have some meaning in Italy (finocchio/gaymo) but have never heard of it happening.
To be fair though Grove, all sides have their racist supporters still. Personally I've always found West Ham fans (when following England) to be a pretty alright bunch of lads. And we (QPR fans) havn't always been cherubs. I've still got a picture somewhere from a trip to Blackpool in the 80's, when a group of ours pulled out a swastika in the pub and started singing about 'gassing Jews'. Very unsavoury but very true.
Seriously Swords, seriously???? They have huge support from the Jewish community and have embraced the "Yid" slang thrown at them for years and are proud of who they are and where they have come from. Because they do this you think they are asking to be told that "Hitler's coming for you", followed by sounds of the gas chamber and the Nazi salute?? Man, I knew you were a cun7 but wow.......
