His two yellow cards that made life so tough for his team against Tottenham took his total of Premier League fouls since he came into the top flight with Blackpool to 180. Only three players – Everton’s Marouane Fellaini, Cheick Tiote at Newcastle and Bolton’s Kevin Davies – have committed more in that time. About the only thing in Adam’s defence is that his total has come in 89 matches, while Davies reached his 181 in just 67, Tiote’s 191 came in 72 and Fellaini’s 203 in 83.
Seriously, how many times would Scholes have been sent off if he wasn't playing for ManU? I remember lots of occasions where he 'mistimed' a tackle and the pundits only response was 'well we know Scholes can't tackle' as if somehow it was OK to do what he was doing because he was who he was. It was a really strange situation and perhaps now the refs will start being a bit more honest and consider the offence rather than the player/club? Come to think of it, nah, no chance.
In the main, Charlie Adam doesn't mistime anything, IMO. He gets exactly what he's aiming for - the man!..
And now he starts his holiday early. Wonder if he had a cheap deal in May that he needed to get away for?
Exactly I've lost count of the number of times Scholes was given lenient treatment by referees for challenges that any other player would have seen red for. It will be interesting to see how differently Utd are treated now that Fergie has gone. There's no doubt in my mind that his intimidation of referees gave Utd and extra ten to fifteen points each season; through a combination of lenient treatment of his players being carded, not giving pens against - remember Utd didn't 'concede' one penalty this season, dodgy penalties being awarded and Fergie time being played at the end of games when they needed to score.
They also had their first red card against Chelsea, which may as well be post-season. My favourite Scholes tackles were the ones that got blown up for a foul off camera, because the play had already moved on. Some of them were so late that I think he clipped one or two groundsmen as they cleared up after the game.

How could any well paid footballer have such a low enough opinion of themselves to belittle themself like that? Oh wait, it's Charlie Adam...
If one knows how many times Kevin Davies fouled, how many times was Davies chopped? As the general said to the private,"shoot him before he shoots you!"
Many of Davies' fouls would have been for simple things like backing into players, jumping with arms out, mistimed jumps etc. Adams' will be more dangerous more of the time.
To be honest, from what I can remember, Davies wasn't really a "nasty" player, dirty but not nasty. I know he got away with a lot of niggling pushes and barges but I don't remember him seemingly intent on injuring players like Adam did/ does.
Davies was a top, old-fashioned CF - gave it out but took it as well. Not nasty at all, just hard as nails. There was a time when I would have loved to see him at Spurs.
Davies got booked for persistent fouling as much as anything. When you're the focus of a hoofball side, you've got to be prepared to mix it up a bit.
