    WREXHAM

Lights, camera, action, roll em, the first meeting between the sides since 2000, we have played them in the League Cup before, in the days of the old two legged affairs that the early rounds used to have both games took part in August 1999 won at Deepdale 1-0 and then won at the Racecourse 2-0.

After making his return from injury and first competitive appearance for the club on Saturday, striker Daniel Jebbison will be hoping for more minutes on Tuesday night.

Lewis Dobbin, who joined the club on loan from Aston Villa on Friday, will be eligible to make his PNE debut.

Mads Frøkjær is the closest of any of the injured pack to make his return, with Brad Potts, Jordan Thompson, Robbie Brady and Will Keane still sidelined.

    The Visitors

Three seasons ago, Wrexham were playing in the National League, but after an incredible few years now find themselves back in the second tier for the first time since 1982.

Phil Parkinson’s side have taken a point from their opening three matches of the league campaign, while their place in the second round of the Carabao Cup was sealed in dramatic circumstances.

Two goals down to Hull City heading into stoppage-time, Ollie Palmer bagged a last-gasp brace to send the tie to penalties, and the Welsh outfit came out 5-3 winners in the shootout.

    Match Officials

    Referee: Adam Herczeg
Assistant Referees: Callum Gough and George Byrne
    Fourth Official: Martin Coy

Adam Herczeg will take charge of a PNE fixture for the first time ever on Tuesday night.

The referee, who began officiating in the EFL in 2022, has been the man in the middle for two Championship matches so far this season – most recently, Coventry City’s 7-1 win over QPR.

    We’ve Met Before
It’s been more than 25 years since PNE and Wrexham last met. Iain Anderson was the match-winner that day, netting the only goal of the game in the 47th minute.

A slightly smaller match thread, don't play them for 25 years by the end of the year we will have had three meeting, mix and match side, suspect Dobbin and Jebbison will start, night out under the lights, but will the starts be in attendance?
