Misses like that can badly affect a scorer's form and it won't surprise me if RVP's confidence is down a bit and he goes on a lean spell. I remember Sutton missing a sitter and he did the same. Let's see. Geoff Astle's miss in 1970 I think it was and Torres' many howlers cause havoc with players.
Aided by shoddy keeping as you say Spurm but there was NOTHING to stop him scoring with that miss. Maybe it came onto him too fast but he'll remember that miss.
i think he's experienced and good enough to get over it tbh. I can't see it affecting him. Maybe if he was young, but a player like him who has scored the number of goals he has? Can't see it personally.
Valencia's shot was deflected and he didn't have time to readjust quickly enough. I can't see RvP being affected by that - at least he was in the right place to miss! And he was plenty confident enough to take on the ambitious shot which put Utd 2-1 up - and obviously caught the 'keeper off guard.
