Evening all. haven't had the time recently to post on here but have kept up with all your comments and opinions.
A month or so ago i posted a thread on here about whether fellow posters felt more optimistic than the same time last year. Opinion was pretty much divided.
I think repeating the question now would be pointless as I'm assuming that we all feel pretty good right now.
I think the board have stuck to their word and provided the funds for quality division one players and potentially good Championship players. Along with the appointment of Paul Hart and the scouting network being given an overhaul I feel very excited (would not yet use the word expectant) about next season.
I'm desperate for Powell to show he has the skills to create an exciting and successful team as the pressure on him will be huge. I hope the fans back him and don't get on his back if we don't thrash Bournemouth 5 -0 first game of the season. I think the signings we have made suggests that we will try and play the ball on the floor, hopefully a la Brighton last year with an emphasis on attacking, free flowing football.

So, a couple of centre backs and one more striker please.

I agree, I think we will try and play with the ball on the deck ala Brighton rather than just hoof it upfront. Not too sure we will beat Bournemouth 5-0, would be nice, but they will probably be quite motivated as we will have their former captain Hollands, and probably Wiggins, their left back, playing against them ! Still lets hope for a good footballing season, cos if we do play it on the deck, we will win a lot more games than we'll lose.

With Damien Matthew as coach you can be sure we'll be playing it on the deck.

Powell tried to play it on the floor last season you could see the difference between his philosophy and Parkys even when results were poor.

Good post SJH. The anticipation of the new season is doing me in. I wish it could start tommorrow. This is the most optimistic i've been since Curbs left.

It was clear to see that CP wanted the team to pass it around but the likes of McCormack just weren't up to it, he couldn't pick his nose let alone pick a pass to a Charlton player and with all these new midfielders I can't wait for him to go
