The casual nature of this performance is scarily familiar.

The quality of our football and passing at times is so poor its beyond a joke.

Its simple as this, if we don't get points in this game:

    Rewind time

    11 April 2009 Stoke City 1 – 1 Newcastle United Britannia Stadium, Stoke-on-Trent [show]
19 April 2009 Tottenham Hotspur 1 – 0 Newcastle United White Hart Lane, London [show]
27 April 2009 Newcastle United 0 – 0 Portsmouth St James' Park, Newcastle upon Tyne [show]
    3 May 2009 Liverpool 3 – 0 Newcastle United Anfield, Liverpool [show]
11 May 2009 Newcastle United 3 – 1 Middlesbrough St James' Park, Newcastle upon Tyne [show]
16 May 2009 Newcastle United 0 – 1 Fulham St James' Park, Newcastle upon Tyne [show]
24 May 2009 Aston Villa 1 – 0 Newcastle United Villa Park, Birmingham [show]

That was our run in when we got relegated. Note the result on 16 May 2009.......................

LIVE! Newcastle United 0 - 0 Fulham Premier League
14 Apr, 12:00 Newcastle United v Sunderland Premier League
20 Apr, 15:00 West Bromwich Albion v Newcastle United Premier League
27 Apr, 17:30 Newcastle United v Liverpool Premier League
    May
4 May, 10:00 West Ham United v Newcastle United Premier League
12 May, 10:00 Queens Park Rangers v Newcastle United Premier League
19 May, 16:00 Newcastle United v Arsenal Premier League

    This run in is harder.

    FFS TOON COME ON!

West Ham picked up a point too to make it just that little bit harder for everyone in bottom 10.

    1) Europe has had a rather depressing effect on our league form.

    2) The leaders on the pitch have all been shipped out

    3) Lack of numbers in the close season.

    4) Long term injuries

    It's going to the wire.

In the second half I have to say I was impressed by our calm and patience all things considered.

Yeah it looked quite laid back but at least it wasn't hurried and anxious.

Paid off very late in the end! :D

Does Cisse only start playing in the 90th minute because the amount of injury time winners he has scored this season is unreal.

Perhaps he thinks he will catch the eye of SAF if he continues with these last minute winners lol

That run-in is horrible. I can only see possible, not assured, victories against Sunderland and QPR. Neither of these are going to be easy games because those teams will be looking to overturn Newcastle for their own survival.

As for the others, I can't see many games where a point can be expected to be gathered.

I don't agree that it's that bad, or certainly not as bad as it could be.

You've got to remember that the Premier League this year has been so poor that anyone can beat anyone.
We've performed WORSE this season against teams we're expected to beat!

NUFC aren't assured of points in any match these days against anyone, but bar Arsenal we should be confident of picking up point(s) in all.

If not, then our standards have slipped so far on last year we'd deserve to go down...

We'll be ok. We just have to get the league season done and start to think about getting back to the basics of the season before. The quality we have will then make the difference. But we have to get back to being more disciplined in our work. I kept banging on about Santon showing a lack of responsibility in his defensive work and his sloppiness since November sums up our work. I include manager, coaching staff and players in that. To be honest I have always liked Santon but I think he has had a shocking season. Thursday night was just typical of his season, I can only see a future for him in midfield.

We just need to get this season over with now. Its been poor for a number of reasons and it will be about learning from it. If we do and take it with us we'll be stronger in the future. Its still early days in Pardews reign, its only his 2nd full season. In modern terms that may seem a long time but it really isn't.

QPR will surely be done by the time we play them. Still, they did us a big favour today. If we win next week and Wigan lose (Man City away), we'll be 8 points clear of Wigan and Sunderland. I think we'd be safe. We'd probably sneak another win somewhere just to be sure. We can't predict everything.

I think that victory has all but sealed safety. While not being out of it, you are maintinaing a small distance from the real danger. Nothing better than a late winner.

Would love to agree with that opinion but I think we need 1 more win, hopefully in our next game.

I still think you need more points, but, for the time being, you are maintaining a relatively healthy amount of breathing spacce.

Said that before and got dragged into, I'm sure in January Sunderland, Norwich and Stoke all thought they were safe.

I worry for our neighbours. If we beat them next week and results go badly, it could spiral for them again. Like Shearer here, Mussolini has not been given a lot of time to sort out the problems. As much as I like laughing at them, it would be crap having no derby
