... and explains a lot if true.

I've just had a conversation with a lad who's given me good info before regarding Newcastle, Ashley, Staveley, etc.

I asked if I could repeat what he's said and he said he wasn't bothered as it's 'common knowledge'.

In a nutshell there's a connection between Newcastle, Joelinton and the HMRC case ...

... he won't say why but says 'watch this space'.

It's blatantly obvious that there's something very strange that someone with a couple of dozen goals, in Austria etc, should be sold for £40 million. In reality he wasn't but that's all I can say about that.

The other thing, I was told, is that he'll leave after the last game of the season either to China or possibly the USA.

The HMRC case has been largely forgotten but it's still being pursued.

    So reading between the lines...

There's the possibility that it wasn't actually £40m, but on paper it may be as a way of inreasing expenditure and reducing profits. When the scum sell him for 3 million they'll make a 37m loss on him, on paper of course.

There is a line in the OP that says it’s ‘common knowledge’, mate.

My mate runs a gardening business down South and his accountant advised him to buy a brand new Mercedes every year as this will come off his tax bill so in effect he is getting it free. He then gives that car to his son at he end of the year, and buys another. His son then sells the car his father gave him last year and gets another year old Mercedes free....

Not very popular reply here but here goes.
As much as I have no time for NUFC I genuinely can’t say I dislike the club. As a Sunderland supporter of course I always want to see us beat them. Yes, they are doing better than us at the moment. Whether or not that has, in part, to do with Ashley and his creative accounting remains to be seen.

But, they are a big club with a big support and if they go under it would be a shame. Seriously.

How does that work? Surely you'd only save the tax on it (so buying it would reduce your taxable income by the cost of the car). I must be missing something like !

I have family who are lifelong supporters so have no wish to see them go under, they won't.

However, they have to play by the rules, or suffer the consequences, just as Chelsea, Man City, etc have found out.

Something definitely stinks with the Joelinton affair ....

... he's just not very good and no better than Mitrovic who'd have scored more if he was still there.

Even at half the reported fee he's not worth the money.

I preferred it when it was us, SAFC and NUFC against the rest of the Country, (except when we played each other), to the way it is now.

And the rivalry was always good for both Clubs, in those days when they were locally owned.

If one was doing well, the Directors of the other would do anything to make sure they caught up.

However, NUFC are 'too big to fail'.
Even if The FA 'did a Bury' on them, the locals would quickly get a new Team picking up the pieces and with the core support they would be back very quickly.

Not sure about the UK but if it's purchased as a company assest and then sold at a loss it's a loss in the tax department's eyes.

If you have a tax bill then one way of reducing it is to have a "business loss" the following year to offset any tax debts that you owe.

Apparently it is a business "expense" as he is the boss and goes round visiting clients and pricing jobs, and this "expense" can be deducted from his tax bill. Why would he lie to me about it? I know self employed painters who pay next to no tax as their accountants offset their business "expenses" against it.
