This is a serious question to the Leicester fans. He hasn't spent much money, imagine what he could do if he had Leicester's wallet to play with. He hasn't felt the pressure of moving to a bigger club and is arguably doing the best job of his career so far at Hull. He's buying young talent and getting them playing attractive and winning football, the complete opposite to what Sven is doing. Although i'm not too sure he'd want to go back after been treated like he was and having to visit a less attractive and less friendly city than Hull.
**** me, you guy's are desperate! He would not go back, he has wealthy backers who want to do things correctly. Not splashing money around like idiots. watching it all go tits up is hilarious!
NP has no track record of spending large amounts of money. With us he has bought Fryatt and McLean for over a million each, and the jury is still out (not me personally I think they are both decent buys). NP has brought in players with really good potential. Leicester need top drawer players now considering the amount of money they are are spending on wages and transfers. It might have been better if Leicester's owners had gone for a long term approach, buying in top quality young players and looking for a 3 year promotion plan. The season is very young, Leicester need stabilty and that means giving Sven a full season before talks of replacement.
Can't argue with any of the above, it's all spot on imo. To get back to the question - yes, although I harbour no hope of him coming back. I questioned when he left and have said several times since why our most shrewd and successful manager since Martin O'Neill was allowed to leave so easily, and a straight answer was never really given, from either side. But yeah, he was boring as hell, but he was also quietly successful at Leicester, and did his job well imo. He deserves success and I wish him well... it's just a shame that success can't be achieved with Leicester, because he certainly built a platform for it before Mandaric decided to put another spanner in the LCFC works!
Funny that as when NP was here he was backed with cash. Not as much as Sven but NP still spent quite a bit Hobbs, Tunchev, Wellens, Gallagher, N'Guessan, Morrison, Adams and all the loans cost money
Like I said no track record with cash. I think he's better off to get the youngsters in. I'm more than happy for him to get more players like Chester, Hobbs, Dudgeon, Stewart, Dudgeon and Evans in. Also if we can have more freebies like Rosenior, Koren and Basso who needs to spend big? Edit: Hobbs cost £800,000+ so he did cost a fair bit (but less than what he is worth IMO)
Wellens- 1.2M Gallagher- 1M Hobbs- 500K Tunchev- 750K Adams- 250K Morrison- 100K N'Guessan- 500K Thats nearly 4.5M added to the 5M we spent the season before Nigel so he had spent more money then most championship managers plus he was backed bringing people like James Vaughan, Mark Davies, Tom Cleverley, Kerrea Gilbert, Martyn Waghorn in on loan so he was backed by Milan. Im not saying he didnt do well for us but he did spend money
What I meant by no track record was he doesn't have a proven good track record spending loads of cash.
He's a quality manager though! I wouldn't want Sven even though Sven did great things earlier in his career with money.
All the money NP spent was worth it on the players he brought. All of them did a decent job NP did pick up some dodgy freebies like Yann Kermorgant, Astrit Ajdarevic and Aman Verma though He had bust ups with quite a few players here like Joe Mattock, Max Gradel and DJ Campbell
No issues with Pearson. He did a great job for Leicester and wasn't appreciated by Mandaric. I wouldn't take him back though. I don't think there is any panic with Sven, its more frustration. Just as we were getting ready to kick on we've had a bad day at the office. The defence stats for the preceeding 5 games proves that.
It's too earlier in the season to write anyone off or nail anyone on. Teams have been in Southamptons position before and blown it and teams have come from the bottom half and got promoted. We never set out to win the league or even get 2nd. The aim was just to get promoted.
As a neutral fan on this I have to say that Leicester would have been better off keeping Pearson and that Hull will finish above them in the league, Sven is a fly by night merchant and not somebody you want to have around when the going gets tough
Leicester fans were ringing 606 last night and wanting Sven out. Everyone has an absolute stinker over the season (us V Leeds for example) and with the season still been early and everyone from 15th upwards been really close together anyone can still take those top 6 places. People will look to Forest and see how a new manager has improved them, but they were in the bottom 3 and having an absolute ****ter of a season so far, Leicester can't claim to be experiencing the same thing. Getting rid of the manager seems too knee jerk this early in the season with lots of football to play.
The more seasoned supporters tend to take a longer term view (IMO). Forget all this quick success thing, build for the future. You can even be relegated from this league and then fly straight back through to the PL (if that's what you really want). Take Norwich as an example. Give your manager a full season.
Fly by night? He won things with Lazio and in hindsight was decent enough for England (No? Look at what has gone on with the National side since he left). Allot of Man City fans thought he did a decent job for them and the same goes for Notts County fans. With the latter he waived away a big payout that he was owed him when it became clear that the club had mislead him about finances. It hasn't worked out for him at some other clubs but the only thing you can almost guarantee as a manager in the modern game is that you will eventually get the sack. Money won't guarantee a club success but it sure gives you a greater chance of it.
