after tonights result, a draw against southampton would mean, barring a big swing in goal difference, that wigan will have to beat arsenal to catch us! If given that draw now......would you take it??????

Only if we were a goal down after 8 minutes, a man down and looking at playing Yeovil or Brentford next season.

Nope rather the win to be certain Wigan are 3points behind with two to play rather it was in our own hands.

Yes I would take a draw as I feel Wigan will not win both there games which would mean unless Spurs put 10 past us we would finish above Wigan

    BUT

    I want the win

    <ok>

Go out playing for a draw & we'll lose the bloody game by sitting back again as in MoN's era.

We are safe now, but we are bloody Sunderland so i can see Wigan getting a win at the Emirates (its only a 10% chance but its still a chance), Newcastle beating QPR and Norwich winning, which will put us right in the ****.

We need to go for the win just so we do not have to beat Spurs at white hart lane on the final day.

A win would be great, but a point would see us safe. Wigan will not get 6 points from their last 2 games.

this is the same wigan that beat Man U at home and then the week after beat Arsenal at the Emirates last year to save their bacon.

I am expecting the unexpected (i still think Arsenal will hammer them but...)

    I would rather....

    We beat Southampton....

Wigan win their last two games....

Newcastle lose their last two games (and Norwich get 1 point)....

    Happy days!! <laugh>

In all seriousness we have to go for a win vs the Saints but a draw will not be the end of the world

A win against Southampton pretty much makes us safe. We have to go for it.

Position is worth as much as extra points, as is a superior goal difference. We have both in our favour. Not all the teams can pick up many more points. I don't think the amount of teams below us means that they will all do enough to see us drop into the last spot.

Of course if we do, it will be fully justified. Crap all season, not having a suitable squad, players getting sent off, thrashed at Villa. We couldn't do muhc more to try and go down without coming out and stating that intent.
